About the Artist
The Groundhogs actually started in the mid-sixties as the backing band for John Lee Hooker. Their first album as a stand alone band, "Scratching the surface", came out in 1968 and over the next few years they released many albums, including their classic albums Thank Christ for the bomb and Split. Tony McPhee continues recording and playing to this day, both as The Groundhogs and as a solo performer.
