4.0 out of 5 stars An Animal Adventure, 13 Aug 2005
By L. Reynolds "LuciLastic" (West Midlands, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I first encountered the Hodgeheg in 1989 when it was first published.
Back then I was 9 years old, and thought it was one of the sweetest and funniest books I had ever read. Now I'm 25 and my opinion has not changed.
After receiving a nasty bump on the head whilst trying to cross the road, Max the young hedgehog suddenly becomes a Hodgeheg, and starts getting all of his words confused. He gets lost on his way home, and has a little adventure.

This is an excellent book for adults to read to children, and also for those children who are developing reading fluency. Boys and girls from 8 upwards will enjoy this story.

5.0 out of 5 stars a remarkable hedgehog's inspiring tale!, 9 Jul 2001
By A Customer
This is the story of how a remarkable young hedgehog uses brain and brawn to devise a solution to the age-old problem facing all hedgehog-kind - how to cross the road in safety! This book will instill in it's young readers an appreciation for the prickly creatures as well as teaching that if you persevere, you can achieve what you set out to do (even if you are very very young!)

3.0 out of 5 stars Max is a hedgehog, 13 Jan 2008
By Mehajabeen Farid "Mej_da_reviewer" (Coventry) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
Max is a hedgehog, he wants to go to the park but to do that he has to cross the road safely. One problem, the traffic is terrible! He sees humans cross over safe and sound so why can't hedgehogs? He tries lots of things and one time he does get badly hurt on his head and his bottom, which makes him talk strangely. He says things like "Something bot me on the hittom" or "Hip! Hip! Roohay!" Finally, Max finds a solution after a long time so he and his family can go to the park unharmed.
