GAME OVERVIEW

HITMAN: Absolution follows cold-blooded assassin Agent 47™ as he takes on his most dangerous—and personal—contract to date.

Betrayed by those he once trusted and hunted by the police, Agent 47 finds himself caught in the center of a dark conspiracy and propelled through a corrupt and twisted world.

Donning the suit of this legendary assassin, you become a deadly marksman with the ability to blend into plain sight, kill with your bare hands, and fashion weapons from almost anything.

Take on the role of Agent 47 and his many extraordinary talents, then ask: what kind of Hitman are you?

Be Professional

HITMAN: ABSOLUTION PROFESSIONAL EDITION features a premium hardcover Art Book with a foreword from Game Director Tore Blystad, and an exclusive behind-the-scenes “making of” video, all packaged up in a clamshell box that looks as sharp as Agent 47 does in his suit, the Professional Edition is the ultimate way to experience the living, breathing world of HITMAN: ABSOLUTION.

HITMAN: ABSOLUTION PROFESSIONAL EDITION also includes advanced access to a range of in-game Agency Weapons, giving the Original Assassin a deadly edge over his enemies from the outset. The Agency Jagd P22G pistol will suit the silent assassins, whilst the Agency HX UMP SMG and the Agency SPS 12 semi-automatic shotgun will give Agent 47 the power to fight his foes head on.

HITMAN: ABSOLUTION follows The Original Assassin undertaking his most personal contract to date. Betrayed by the Agency and hunted by the police, Agent 47 finds himself pursuing redemption in a corrupt and twisted world.

Answer: When it's Hitman Absolution.

Background information: I have played all the Hitman games before and if you want to know what made the Hitman games so great and why this title was eagerly anticipated, play Hitman Blood Money.

Then when you come to play this you won't recognise the series. They try to share similarities but what made the original Hitman series great was the complete open-ended way you can play the game. Basically you are presented with a 'playground' to kill your target(s) and it's over to you, your exploration and imagination how you do it.]

Hitman Absolution wants to 'hold your hand' and show you what to do down linear, console-type gameplay.

Yes you can increase the difficulty to release the 'helping hand' but I found this almost impossible to play and, more importantly, enjoy.

It has been mentioned before but had this game been call Splinter Cell : Hitman you would know what to expect.

That said once you get past this initial disappointment it does become enjoyable for what it wants to be and you start to learn how the game wants itself to be played.

With my modest 1360x768 resolution, nvidia gts 450 and Athlon ii x3 440, I managed all settings maxed out, apart from msaa which kills your FPS. I must say the game does look and feel superb. you will be treated to a lot of great eye-candy.

The story to be honest is forgettable and characters are pathetic, but forget that as nothing can beat sneaking around, timing your silent kill move, dragging the body and dumping in a conveniently located garbage bin, just before the guard turns the corner. even if he does see you just pull out a dual-wielding weapon and fill him full of lead....then put HIM in the bin.

This really is a fantastic game, and although they've changed the series a little bit from the previous games in terms of game play (like many have commented on), this doesn't seem to detract from the fun like I first thought.

The user perhaps has less 'choice' in how they go about the game - although there are still many different ways of performing the final kill, and is perhaps less open world than before. This is definitely a negative step, but not a big one. There seems to be a big tendency at the moment to focus on graphics and cut scenes rather than game play... Max Payne 3 is one of note - the fact that you were literally given zero choices and the game played like one big movie completely ruined the series for me (the previous games were much better)... anyway, i was worried that this would kill the new Hitman Absolution. Fear not, although there are more cut scenes, and you do feel like you're being guided through the game with someone holding your hand, telling you exactly what to do, i still found the game extremely fun, and no where near as bad as other more recent games that do this (ahem, max payne 3).

Definitely worth buying, although its slightly different from previous hitman games, its in no way any less fun and a lot of what made the hitman series so great is very much still present!

The game is also beautiful, with incredible graphics and physics clearly being at the forefront in that area (although i wish developers would not sacrifice gameplay for graphics) and is best experienced on a high end PC - Console versions just don't compare, which isn't at all surprising any more.

I was expecting more. Buy 2nd hand if you must play it! I am still a huge fan of Blood Money. The fact that you can now play it again online for free is a huge plus! To play, all you have to do is watch a 30-second ad on mute and you get sufficient time to play a level. Who can complain about that? But this, what took them so long to produce a bad cousin of Metal Gear Solid?!

Intuition....? STOP! STOP! STOP Please let me use my own intuition! And what is it with the game constantly talking to you like you're an idiot? All this serves to do is kill any the sense of atmosphere, tension and suspense!

You want to know how bad this game is....? They use cut scenes for the final kill, thus killing any sense of pay off! And you can't even skip through the intro level! Hello? This was a cult game... So lots of people know how to play it and don't need this hand holding to be mandatory!

The graphics too are little improvement over Blood Money, and are definitely a let down compared to the current generation of games. There is less of a non-linear feel about this version also. Now you're not quite tied to a string as you walk through levels, but its sub par compared with the freedom of its predecessor IMHO.

Such a shame, such a shame. But good for me as I embark on a career in Video Game Design. It gives me confidence that I might have something better to bring to the table.

This game is AWESOME, is beautiful, and I think that is the apotheosis of the HItman. The section of the graphics is very well, with good effects with the sun and with the moom, too. One of the best game of the 2012.

And Amazon.co.uk is perfect, too.

If you haven't played any of the other games then you are missing out, the only reason i gave 3 stars is that, it is nothing like the other games. This one is too linear, in the old ones you could kill the target in 1000 different ways and sometimes you didn't even know who the target was. The disguise system lets this game down, it makes no sense at all, one of the levels is a busy chiinese market place and if you are seen by the stall owners for too long they shout "Hitman" and run away alerting your target and his henchmen. The story is cringe worthy, little girls and killing for money doesn't work.
