5.0 out of 5 stars The Definitive Work 19 Mar 2007
By LagunaDave - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
An assiduously footnoted, comprehensive exploration of all aspects of German foreign policy prior to WWII. As one reviewer said, not casual reading, but top-notch scholarship.

The other (Nazi-apologist/holocaust-denier's) review is simply a lie - the book does not even mention the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand...

5.0 out of 5 stars Eminent historian's work remains unsurpassed in scope and scholarship 9 Aug 2005
By Mike Robinson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Professor Weinberg's books are generally held in the highest regard among academic historians, and his history of German diplomacy from 1933 through 1939 remains unsurpassed in scope and scholarship. To get a better sense of these books, I would suggest searching for published journal reviews, or even searching the web.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this rubbish 21 July 2005
By Devl's Advocate - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
It's full of crap and is not historical research as we mere mortals understand it. It's packed full of lies, distortions, falsifications and worse.

Just to quote an example, Weinberg claims that the assasination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand by Serbian terrorist in 1914 was stage managed by the Germans! That all plebiscites held in Germany and Austra since Hitler came to power were rigged! Now that are only some of the most outrageous and ridiculos claims by this German hating moron.
