5 of 6 people found the following review helpful By Mr. R. W. Graham VINE VOICE on 30 May 2014
One of the greatest film directors of all time, this sees 7 of Alfred Hitchcock's best films all made by Universal during his Hollywood days. Psycho, one of the greatest films of all time starts the set off and sees woman on the run Marion Crane stop off at the Bates Motel only to end up murdered by owner Norman Bates. Still one of the all time great shockers with terrific performances from Janet Leigh and Anthony Perkins. Rope sees 2 men plotting to get away with murder and stars James Stewart. A slow but tense well acted film coming across like a stage play set mostly in one apartment. Saboteur sees a man on the run after being accused of being a spy and a traitor, one of Hitchcock's early Hollywood films and is a thrilling film noir. Shadow Of A Doubt, another early Hollywood film sees a family man and beloved uncle suspected of murder and is another well crafted well acted thriller. The Man Who Knew Too Much starring James Stewart and Doris Day is a remake of one of Hitchcock's earlier films which sees a family on holiday getting caught up in an assasination plot. Rear Window again starring James Stewart this time with Grace Kelly sees him as a man recovering from an injury who thinks he sees his neighbour murder his wife through his telescope and is a tense masterpiece The Trouble With Harry is perhaps the weakest film here but still a fun, well acted comedy thriller about several people who stumble across a corpse and their attempt to hide it. A must buy for serious film fans all films looking stunning in bluray.

Films:
- Psycho
- Rope
- Saboteur
- Rear Window
- Shadow of a Doubt
- The Trouble with Harry
- The Man Who Knew Too Much

There is a lot of bonus material included, such as commentaries and the original trailers. The discs included are exactly the same as the individual releases (so in rare cases it may be cheaper to buy each movie individually). But on the whole, this is a nice set and a good value for 7 entertaining Hitchcock films.
