5.0 out of 5 stars Not 'complete' but a good place to start... 8 Dec 2005
By A Customer
Not a 'complete' set by any means (Hitchcock mde 54 features in his time) but still a very good cross-section of his American work and contains most of his best features. Of particular note are Vertigo, Rear Window, Psycho, The Birds, Rope, Frenzy and The Trouble With Harry - films that more than justify the cost (bear in mind that this set breaks down to less than £5 a film). All films come with a very good little 'making of' documentary (exceptions are Foreign Correspondant, Mr & Mrs Smith and (bizarrely) Psycho. The docs feature commentary from writers, producers and actors involved and give some nice background to the story. Also - don't be put off by the size. You'd be forgiven for thinking that a box set of 16 films is going to take up about two feet of shelf space but fortunately the entire boxset is about 8"x5"x5" thanks to the films coming in 'slimline' cases. All in all - great value and invaluable to the Hitchcock fan. Makes a great present too.
