What a great drive AND excellent service. Ordered one day, delivered the next... Firstly do get AND READ the very best guide for this installation. I only use Apple Macintosh computers, so what follows is Apple specific.
You can find the guide at [iFixit] The installation is not difficult BUT requires attention to detail and to be fair it is NOT for everyone. if in doubt get an IT Professional to do the job for you.
You will be well advised to 'prepare' your new Travelstar using an external SATA caddy and a program such as SuperDuper to 'clone' your existing drive before you start the drive swap. Once you have cloned your drive follow the instructions from the ifixit site to the letter, so ensuring a straight forward installation of your new 500Gb drive.
The drive is whisper quiet. I had to check that it was running - no clicks, no noise at all. AND it is quick. I am typing this on the 17" MacBook Pro 2.1 where the drive is now installed. The temperature is a steady 48 deg with Safari open - in other words slightly cooler than with the old drive.
Of course the 'old' 160Gb drive will come in handy in an external USB case as a back up drive while I'm away from my desk. Highly recommended..
