I live in Somerset and am interested in the Great War, so bought this book mainly for reference purposes. However, it is an interesting read (maybe not cover to cover all at once) and gives details on the SLI's movements 1914-1919. It describes the weather, names Officers, describes objectives, talks about morale, etc. It's the kind of detail that I would have only expected to find at the Public Records Office and is a great price.

An extremely interesting book especially for me as I great grandfather served with the SLR and was wounded in the early days of WW1 and subsequently died at Wrest Park, Silsoe. He had the dubious honour of being the first to die there when it was seconded as a hospital for wounded soldiers.
