Excellent Knowledge. 18 Nov 2010
By GKC
Format:Paperback
The author uses very professional English and has clearly been very well educated! Although, this made it a bit difficult to read for the average person such as myself. I suppose it's due to the fact that the Sikhs have such an in-depth history, but all the names and facts and places meant I quickly lost interest after the first few chapters. Otherwise, a fantastic read for anyone who wants to know everything about Sikh History, as long as your concentration is at its highest level!!

Yet not to differentiate between belivers or non-believers, homosexual, vegans or whoever, in Guru's kitchen we all sit on the floor and we sit regardless of how rich or poor whoever sits besides us, why we dont eat non-veg in that kitchen is beacuse of the different dietary needs of people of different faiths, ie; muslims preference to Halal and Hindus to non-Halal.

What I like about Khushwant Singh is he writes the truth, can be very stubborn in his writting, but he is not somebody who wears Sikhism as not another 'this is what it is and you can't change it' and 'if you do this you are bad and go to hell or vice versa', he presents Sikhism as an interesting experience, something one can talk about, enlightening us with it's history and what makes Sikhs so resilent and humane.

A must have if you want to understand the Sikhs 30 Mar 2011
By Jagdeep S Sandhu - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book has more in-depth historical research than Cunningham's A history of the Sikhs that was published in 1849. The book is due for a new edition, that discusses the migration of modern Sikhs from Punjab to UK, Canada, USA in search of freedom and better life.
