Biography

Rock N Roll Jesus is Kid Rock’s most honest, eclectic, and soulful record to date. It’s his State of the Union address, a deeply personal statement that looks at racism in America, empathizes with soldiers in Iraq (Rock visited the troops last Christmas) and also lays bare his tormented relationship with Pam Anderson. During their breakup, Rock assumed a low profile, focusing on ... Read more in Amazon's Kid Rock Store

Product Description

Amazon.co.uk

The History Of Rock arrives as the sort of superstardom-celebrating release that can buy a hot-selling artist time. (Think, say, G N'R Lies.) After 8 million (and counting) sales of 1998's Devil Without A Cause, the trailer-rockin' rapper is out to remind the world that it hardly started there. Mostly drawn, and often retooled, from his out-of-print Polyfuze Method and Early Mornin' Stoned Pimp, these tracks display a "funk country hick" already on point with his knowing, hardheaded combo of old-school beats and classic-rock guitars. An "American bad ass" for sure, but also an artist who could come only from America, Kid Rock brings the noise--not to mention the bread and the circus. --Rickey Wright

Format:Audio CD
I first heard of Kid Rock in 1998. Since then I have become obsessed with his music. From American Badass to My Oedipus Complex, this album ROCKS!!! Compared to Devil Without A Cause, History of Rock doesn't quite cut it. But anyway it is still a brilliant album and I can't wait until the next one!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best album in the world 28 Dec 2000
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Wow! What a fantastic album! Easily the best CD I have ever heard! I first saw Kid Rock on WWF Raw is War, and was really impressed by 'American Bad Ass' (the track rocks), and so I bought the album and found that all of the other tracks are as good as, if not better than 'Bad Ass'. If you are into music by people like Limp Bizkit, you will love this album. It really is brilliant, and it will keep your head banging from 'Bad Ass' right through to 'My Oedipus Complex'. I strongly recommend you buy this album!

5.0 out of 5 stars Bloody brilliant! 31 May 2000
Format:Audio CD
I had "Devil without a cause" last year and loved it. I got this 1 day after the release date from Amazon-uk and it f***ng rox! Joint with "Devil without a cause" in my opinion. Some amazing rock tracks like "My Oedipus complex" and "Dark and greay" and some old-school hip-hop like "Ya' keep on" and "Paid". A classic. A MUST BUY! Kid rock aint exactly HUGE over here in the UK and he needs publicity. I hope you all buy it.

I discovered Kid Rock through my American pen-pal, and I cannot thank him enough. History of rock is definately the product of THE most talented musician on the planet. My Oedipus Complex is without doubt the greatest track ever written and American bad ass is just straight up aggressive rap-metal. My only problem with the album is that it appears to be two-sided. Tracks such as Dark and Grey and Abortion are classic American Rock - whilst tracks like Ya keep on and paid seem to be more hip-hoppy. This narrows the audience a little. Cypress Hill tried this with Skull and Bones, and the album was average. This album is definately more than average, but you just get the impression that he could do more by releasing each stlye on a separate CD. Either way, this album is excellent, and despite the two conflicting styles, it will have you headbanging the night away. Top Stuff.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad! 3 Jan 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
I bought this album after finding the first album banging. When i first listened to the album, i found the songs rather mellow and long for my liking. However after further listening i have changed my mind. I am more of a rock/heavy guitar/hip hop listener. Bands like Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach and Cypress Hill, and Kid Rock incorporate this. My favourite tracks are 'F*ck that' 'Dark and Grey' and 'My oedious complex' If you are looking for a blend of metal and hip hop, look no further. However in my opinion 'Devil without a cause' is a step ahead in class!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have for Kid Rock fans! 15 Jun 2000
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Kid rock is the American Bad Ass! My favourite songs on this are "American Bad Ass", "Early Morning Stoned Pimp" featuring Joe C. ,"Dark & Grey", all of them are good. Kid must have worked very had to make this CD. Even though his new single contains excepts of "Sad But True" by Metallica, the lyrics show how much hard work he did to make it from someone who wasn't played on the radio in 1990 when "Grit Sandwhiches for Breakfast" all the way to 1998 to make "Devil Without a Cause". He should really be more honoured by y'all. This album is a masterpiece! It is worth the money!

5.0 out of 5 stars Kid Rock does rock! 28 May 2000
Format:Audio CD
Well, i hadn't really heard much of Kid Rock, but when I came back from the USA I had fallen deeply in love! The music was hard rock and I adored it! American Bad Ass is a true Kid Rock song and has been made very popular where I live, coz I have been playing it that much and that loud! If you like a bit of edge in your music, this is for you, and not for the faint hearted!

Few hits missing but still a great collection. Remind you where Kidrock started with his music and how white rap should be - so shut up Eminem
