It's not unfamiliar these days to expect a band to release the more "gentle" number from their LP. In this case it's Funeral's first outing in presenting this dimension via a single. "Casually Dressed and Deep In Coversation" had "Your Revolution is A Joke" to call upon as the albums "softer" tune, but "History" shows further maturity and takes advantage of a simpler musical backdrop and melody-job to emphasise it's certain anthemic mold.

The power of the song is what's astounding though. It's almost like dropping out of the pace delivered within the other singles and then being serious for a moment. There is this real unity and togetherness about the song and it's ultimately all-down to the outro, the chorus line sung by numerous personel in unison. It's the ultimate call-to-arms, lighters to the skys moment that frankly leaves little more reason to question whether Funeral For A Friend are one of the best bands in Britain today.

I listened to XFM and they said the acoustic version was available, which are generally excellent from FFAF. This time round i prefered the normal sound track, and the second song was pants (nabbed from another bad). Even if you're a fan who wants EVERY FFAF single then i still wouldn't bother if i were you!

This song is a great song, if not a bit softer than alot of their other stuff. The whole album 'Hours' is a great album.
