Brilliant account of Blackburn from early days to present. Well written and interesting. Have read lots of books on Blackburn but this had new information and photos.

Impressive. Fully captures the development of Blackburn as an industrial town of real consequence in the Victorian era. Mr Beattie also conveys very powerfully the Victorian drive for improvement. I found the insights into the half time system and its adverse effect on education particularly illuminating. Highly recommended.

This book was fantastic. It was brand new and I have had fun reading about where my ancestors lived. It arrived a few days early so I was very pleased.
