Outstanding guide to explore Bruges! Janice McDonald draws on her vast experiences in Bruges to provide an easy to follow guide from which all travelers can benefit. More than just a typical "travel book", the guide provides history, background, and practical advice for those traveling to Bruges for the first time or the tenth time. This historic walking guide is a must have for any traveler heading to Bruges. Don't leave home without it!

As a wilderness explorer I can appreciate a good guide book! Janice has met the task with her book, "Historic Walking Guides Bruges." The book guides the reader through the area outlining the hikes into five categories.
Walk 1: Popular day hikes departing from the train station.
Walk 2: Popular hikes leaving from the Markt in the center of town traveling over the northern neighborhoods. These hikes are less touristy than those in walk 1.
Walk 3: Popular hikes that outer ring of the city covering city gates, windmills, canals, and neighborhoods off the beaten path.
Walk 4: Chocolate lovers hike. Self explanatory.
Walk 5: Beer lovers hike. Self explanatory.
The guide keeps you from getting lost while helping you enjoy the the wonders that might otherwise be missed. In addition to describing the hikes, Janice provides great insight into the history of the area. If you plan on going to Belguim, you can't miss Bruges. If you go to Bruges, you'll need this guide. I highly recommend it!!!
