4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Symmetry 3 April 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Are you from Hisingen?
Do you have the Blues?
Do you live in a Graveyard?
Is your Dad Dave Brock?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, then this is for you!
It really is remarkable how a modern country like Sweden can produce music that is not only rooted in the past, but sounds like it has been beamed directly from oh, say 1972, thus avoiding all the piffle that has afflicted nusic since then.
Just take 4 blokes who all look as if they have been fathered by Dave Brock, stick them in a studio full of vintage equipment and marvel as they take you to a Hard Rock - not Heavy Metal - Valhalla.

Forget Rap and Boy Bands and Grunge and Hair Metal and Mumford and his progeny and all such bilge and groove on a mat to this colossus of cool.

BUY! More highly recommended than the sight of Robbie Williams in a weighted sack about to be thrown in a canal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Potent journey in time 23 April 2011
By Bodhi Heeren TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Audio CD
Sweden seems to be at the forefront when it comes to retro rock, bands deeply immersed in the heavy/psychedelic/prog of the 70s and bands like Free, Blue Cheer, Captain Beyond. Good songs, great musician ship and a daredevil - often rather 'macho' - attitude.

Few bands does it better than Graveyard, and few bands are more popular amongst the many sites dedicated to this kind of vital, stoney Rock. Loud guitars at the forefront backed by a 'loose' and inventive rhythm section, screaming vocals and lyrics about women and demons. Hard rock mixed with a few more dreamy ballads. All executed with true class.

For young stoners as well as older hippies (as myself) who can rejoice in the fact that the flame is kept alive. Has this album been out in '72 it would most probably have been a classic today.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality album. BUY ONE, OR PLENTY OF THIS! 13 Dec 2011
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This album takes you back 30 years, I would imagine. (I'm only 25y)
Hisingen Blues is the album of the year(2011).

All the songs in the album are fantastic. The versatility of styles should inspire other artists because this is brilliant.

Buy the album because this will be a classic. Graveyard is much like Titanic was in the 1970s (great album from them, 'Eagle Rock').

If you've never heard of Graveyard, I would suggest you to listen "No Good, Mr. Holden" and "The Siren" which are my favorite songs from this album.

Graveyard is not stoner. It's pure Blues rock/Rock and Roll.

Other recommendations are:
Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats - Blood Lust (2011, UK. One of my favorite albums)
Russian Circles - Enter (Instrumental only, but super good. 2006 USA)
Bombus - Bombus (2010, Sweden)
Blues Pills - Devil Man (2012, Sweden)
Brutus - Brutus (2011, Sweden)
Greenleaf - Agents of Ahriman (2007)
Soen - Cognitive (2012, this album has a similar sound to Tool. But a bit harder)
Rocket From The Tombs ‎- The Day The Earth Met The (2002, USA)
The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble - Here Be Dragons (2009, just a bloody brilliant album. One of the best albums ever.)
Zodiac - A Bit Of Devil (2012, Germany. Just a very good album. Vocal similar to the artist 'Everlast'.. weirdly. But sounds great.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Raw, energetic 70's rock 26 Jan 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I saw Graveyard a few weeks ago and was completely blown away. Hisingen Blues is a raw, energetic piece of 70s nostalgia. It's no frills, short, sharp guitar songs, with the blues as a background and fun to boot. Stick it in on loud and I challenge you not to scream aloud, tap your feet and ultimately bop around the lounge.

5.0 out of 5 stars An unknown masterpiece in the making 25 Sep 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I rushed out and bought this record on the back of hearing just one track, (by accident one evening as I flicked through the TV channels), and to say that I was not disappointed would be an understatement.
This is one of those gems, that no one has ever heard of, but after playing it, you will not put the thing down. If you like bluesy type rock, in the vein of Led Zepplin and the like, then listen to this. There is not a duff track on the album and if there is any justice in this world, then everyone will listen to this album and make it the classic is should undoubtly become........go out and buy it now and then tell your friends to do the same.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent 30 May 2011
By Effon
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Fantastic album. Production is great. In a world of overproduced nonsense everything is clear and well balenced but most importantly the sound of a real band. Sound very 70's but not in a contrived way.
Great playing with some excellent Cornell/Plant esq vocals and above all else consistantly great song writing with a perfect mix of material with fast, slow, heavy and mellow stuff sometimes all in the same song.
Cant recommend highly enough.

Feels like you're transported back to the 70's rock - brilliant album and a good combination of slower and more rocking songs. Lead singer has a great voice.
