5.0 out of 5 stars In Love With the Woman I Hate! 1 July 2001
Format:Mass Market Paperback
In this book, Meredith Munro is studying to be a nun after she was raped in her home. A month before she could say her vows, Cameron McKay sneaks into the convent and kidnaps Meredith since she is his sworn enemy's daughter.
Everything started going wrong when he realised that the young kidnappee was very attractive.....
I like this book because of the dramatic kidnapping at the beginning. It showed real flair and I love those kind of things. The end bit where Cameron falls in love with Meredith is just sooo sweet and romantic. *Sigh*.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a man. He's a mighty good man!!!!!!! 28 Aug 2005
By D. Lane - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
His Wicked Ways has a strong (but not obnoxious) heroine who is in no way ordinary, a back story which is compelling but doesn't get in the way of the love story, and of course a wonderful hero. Both the hero and the heroine have secrets of their own, which are slowly brought to light by the author, like layers being peeled from a (very good) onion. Meredith and Cameron were both wounded, intriguing, complex, wonderful characters. The action/suspense was fast-paced and thrilling. The setting was beautiful and exotic. The sex was HOT and perfect for the story. His Wicked Ways is a cut way above the typical historical romance. Wonderful love story, great characters with an emotionally scarred hero and strong but vulnerable heroine, unique setting, intriguing plot, edge-of-your-seat pacing, heart-tugging emotion, excellent writing, intense sensual love scenes, and a superb ending. This was just the kind of romance novel I love. Wonderful characters. Characters that seems real because they are not perfect-something most novels like this lack.

This book had everything you need to create a good romance: a dashing hero, a beautiful heroine and, most of all...PASSION! Samantha James developed Meredith and Cameron's personalities and motivations very convincingly, to the point where you feel as though you know them well enough to be friends by the time you finish the book. His Wicked Ways was an emotional roller coaster, and I felt all the pain and joy they did. I was so engrossed, I read it in a day. The love scenes are ample & steamy, and the plot is a good one. A fast paced book with an intricate plot that I cannot help but enjoy. His Wicked Ways is a cut way above the typical historical romance.

It's true that this books name is not very fitting. The hero is not wicked. But it still is a wonderful book. A sweet passionate love story. I wish my husband was more like Cameron.

2.0 out of 5 stars Thought it would be better 7 Oct 2008
By Melissa - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Verified Purchase
I should have been enthralled with this story, the set up is good, would be nun is captured for revenge by bold Highlander. I think I had problems with this novel because it moved slowly in the beginning and both characters were not very communicative with each other.

The story opens with Meredith Munroe, an almost nun, being captured by feuding laird Cameron MacKay. He makes it appear as if she has committed suicide so that Meredith's father will mourn her death. Cameron has a real vendetta, his father and six brothers were killed by the MacKays.

Of course, Meredith does not believe her father had anything to do with this heinous act and vehemently states this to the angry Cameron. I think part of the problem I had with Meredith was she was not altogether very diplomatic with her tone or language with a deeply greiving Cameron. Obviously he is in mourning but there is very little condolences given by Meredith. She is also way stubborn, preferring to be physically in pain rather than ask for help or admit she is wrong.

Meredith was a rape victim and she is frightened and angry. Her desire to keep Cameron at a distance is certainly understandable but her sense of self righteousness got on my nerves when she would let him know his sins. I guess as an almost nun she felt she had the right to tell him what his sins were. Meredith constantly berates herself for being weak, but I never saw this with Cameron. She more than stands her own against him.

Cameron is hostile at first but when they arrive at his keep, he becomes more open and caring. He decides the best way to heal from his ordeal is for Meredith to give him a son and shockingly she agrees to bear him a child so that she can leave the keep. I wondered how a woman could agree to leave her child behind but apparently she never realized the seriousness of the situation until later. Meredith tends to be impulsive.

The last fourth of the book moved smoothly and I liked how the leads interacted with each other. Meredith acted as if she finally liked Cameron and he became very vulnerable to her. However, this did not make up for the parts that were slow moving or for Meredith's inability to think through problems.

5.0 out of 5 stars Revenge is Sweet 24 May 2007
By msbooklady - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
During an attack on his family that leaves him wounded and his father and brothers dead, Cameron MacKay, hears the Munro battle cry and sees a redheaded man from behind leading the attack. Months later, Cameron sneaks into a nunnery and kidnaps the leader of Clan Munro, Red Angus' only child his beloved daughter Meredith. Meredith will be taking her vows in just a few weeks, she came to the nunnery two years ago after a rape by an unknown assailant in her home. She never told anyone about the attack and her fear of men and not knowing who it was that attacked her led her to seek escape there. Now she is kidnapped by three very virile men who also happen to be her clan's enemies who have made it appear that she has died to make her father suffer. Cameron is stunned by his attraction to his enemy's daughter and devises a scheme to ease his longing and give him the revenge he so desperately wants, force Meredith to give him a son. Meredith can't believe she is attracted to Cameron, however she still cannot fathom letting a man touch her sexually. As she starts seeing the gentle side of Cameron she starts falling in love with him and hopes for a peaceful conclusion to her situation. She knows that her father could never have done the things they claim he did.

When the truth finally comes out about what happened to her, Cameron vows to keep her safe and make her understand he will never hurt her. Meredith is shunned by the inhabitants of the keep because of her clan, until they start seeing the gentle spirit inside. Soon Cameron and Meredith are married and she pregnant, but they still do not trust one another enough to declare love. The pair will never be happy as long as the feud stands between them but can Cameron let go of the hatred of the murderers of his family.

This was a sensual, wonderful Scottish Romance. It had everything that makes a story great, romance, suspence, action and good characters.

3.0 out of 5 stars A slow read in the beginning that picks up speed. 30 Jan 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This book didn't capture my interest as fast as the author's other books. The first 150 or so seemed to go by slowly, but once the characters arrive at his castle, that's when the action begins. The setting is filled with suspicion and betrayal, because the two main characters' families have been feuding for about one hundred years, yet no one knows why. I like the way the author created the bond between Meredith and Cameron's sister-in-law, and also with the other women in the castle. I also like the way she developed the love and trust between the two main characters. I look forward to reading more books from her in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great love story 1 Oct 2003
By Laurel Oakley - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This was a very good book. The story line was about a girl who retreats to the convent to avoid her rapist and it was handled very well.Meredith and Camerons' love for each other builds slowly and deepens until you can almost feel it. This book was a pleasure to read and I couldn't put it down until it was finished. Ms. James is definately an excellant author.
