I agree with lots of reviews here, that this is a gripping read, and i too finished it more or less in one sitting. I disagree, however, that there is anything remotely funny about it.I do think some of the descriptions of Mia's pain are very well observed, and the sheer agony she is feeling comes accross very clearly;anyone who has been in this situation will empathise with the rawness of her feelings. However,I think we see an obsessive-like descent into madness as the book progresses.Mia's actions change her from being the wronged party secretly reading text messages and weighing up her options,to the rather worrying bunny boiler obsessive i feel she becomes later in the novel.Maybe loving someone so much is a kind of madness and Mia's panicked, terror stricken reactions to life without Peter should serve as a warning! Lucy Dawson has created three characters in such a way that makes it very difficult to decide which of them is actually sane and telling the truth!I finished the book not liking either Mia or Peter, and thought the final paragraph very chilling;perhaps these two deserve each other. I felt sorry for Liz, who as the other woman, should not deserve it, but her entanglement with both Mia and Peter nearly destroys her.
Overall, a really absorbing book that will surprise you.
