In a planet where humans must scavenge the post-apocalyptic barren wasteland, Hirokin - a reluctant warrior with a dark past - sets off on mission to fulfill his destiny. Having fought to the death to save his wife and son from the planets evil dictator - Griffin - and his elite army of hunters, the lone warrior is left for dead in the vast desert. Armed with his samurai blade, Hirokin is forced to choose between avenging the murder of his family and fighting for the freedom his people. In a twist of fate and with a small rebellion by his side Hirokin s vision finally becomes clear.

Well, not sure what to think of this one. There seemed to be inspirations from films like Dune (plenty of desert), Gladiator (amplitheatres, dream sequences of hands through reeds etc.), Last of the Mohicans (soundtrack, hairstyles), MadMax (costumes & more hairstyles - mostly the chief baddie).
While the story line seems to make sense, scenes jump meaning you need to do some out-of-the-box thinking to make the links. Too often, you're left think, 'ok how did we get here?' It makes me wonder whether there is a really good Directors Cut waiting to be released. The similarities with Dune are interesting as Hirokin too has some poorly acted scenes and a script delivered with too much Shakespeare in mind. There is too an overdose in arty sequences. However, I cannot deny that the desert scenery is splendid.
It certainly wasn't a waste of a Saturday night compared with most tv these days but it won't be on my replay list.

Paid a fiver for this at my local Tesco's. I only wanted to watch it. not fund the entire movie making costs. I don't think they could have spent much more on it. Dire acting and very little plot. Comes across as a poor TV movie. The cover was the best thing about it. At least I can use the Blu-Ray case for my next damaged purchase.

Great desert shots and a reasonable story line though predictable but I found the acting throughout by some of the chracters very wooden which spoilt it it for me. Compared to a Azumi film which uses sword play this fighting was tame.It was ok though just should have been so much better. One to rent not buy.

The set reminded me of a 1970s Dr Who episode. Bad acting confusing storyline ? I recommend watching this drunk - it will make more sense!

The story is fine as a cross between Yojimbo and Star Wars and there are some pretty people on the screen but that's about it. Honestly, the dvd cover design had to cost more than the actual movie. I'm sure I could see cardboard cutouts in the background instead of extras. There are two sets to speak of and one of those is a bunch of white tents. If you want to see post apocalyptic sci-fi martial arts done properly watch this The Challenge - La Sfida instead, don't be put off by the cover - unlike Hirokin, they spent all the money on the movie!

This is the worst film I have ever watched. I couldn't even watch all of it, the acting is so terrible. Why would a company put all that money in to a story, that sounded pretty interesting, then ask the guy next door if he's ever acted before, either way he's got the part!
I have never written a bad review for anything in my life, but this film is SO BAD, I am going to go out of my way to write complaints to the production company, and director, for wasting part of my life I shall never get back

On a distant planet the human overlords are slowly wiping out the indigenous species known as Arids in order to take the planet's raw materials. If it sounds like "Avatar", wait. Griffin (Julian Sands) is the evil human viceroy over the planet which he runs like the Roman Empire.
Moss (Angus Macfadyen )is a rebel that Griffin is hunting and wants to kill. Through a series of events a human named Hirokin (Wes Bentley) winds up in Moss' s camp. Moss knows the old "Way" which is like an oriental earth religion, plus martial arts. He instructs Hirokin in "The Way" so he can unite the tribes and defeat the humans. "The Way" also allows one to see the outcome of their decision before it happens.
The humans have great advances like hover crafts, but fight with swords and spears. It is difficult to tell humans from Arids except by the lines on their hands. They can interbreed, but unfortunately the genocide has caused most of the Arid women to become barren.
To add to the mix there are some woman/breeding/jealousy issues between Griffin, Hirokin, Griffin's barren girlfriend Orange(Jessica Szohr) Hirokin's fertile wife Terra (Mercedes Manning) and Moss's daughter Maren (Laura Ramsey).
The acting and dialogue was fairly bad. They could have interjected some humor from time to time...like "These 2 Arids walk into a bar for the first time and say, "I'll have the usual..."
No f-bombs, sex, nudity. Rape? Woman showers with her clothes on. PG sex talk "submit"

I totally agree with the comment below, my husband and I have just watched it and it's rubbish. Acting, fight scenes etc, my 6 and 5 years old could do better. Avoid if you can.
