I liked the premise of this book. Anne McAllister wrote another fascinating and beautiful instalment on the Sava family saga. Here we read the Story of George and Sophy Savas who were separated by a flimsy misunderstanding. When George was admitted following a road traffic accident in which he heroically saves a young boy (his buddy, whom he mentors) but ends up in hospital with a head injury; his doctor friend would not discharge him home unless there was someone to look after him 24/7. Of course his wife had been contacted with news of the accident and she travelled hundreds of miles to see him thinking the worst. With no one else to look after him, will she agree to be hired by him to look after him while he recuperates or would she turn her back on him when he needed her most?
I liked how these two who were separated by an insubstantial misunderstanding were brought together by another fateful accident when both had been thinking more and more about the other and their marriage. They say that nature/ life has a way of giving one a second chance and I think this two just got their's. It is one thing to wish for a second chance to make right all that you did wrong and another thing to actually do it when your wish is granted. The ego, the old resentments and pride will all surface again, it all depends on whether the inner change wrought by your time of reflection in the wilderness of your thoughts and intuition was strong enough to enable you take that first step in overcoming yourself and the past. A wise man once wrote that `Love for your neighbour begins and ends with disregarding his faults' - simply put there can be no forgiveness without love. Will these two tap into the love they still have for each other and forgive themselves and forgive each other, and stay together to raise their lovely daughter or will their ego prevent them from pursuing the path of true love. Anne McAllister's gift of weaving the ordinary into an enthralling and compelling read was very evident in this book.

Let's just say Sophy's and George's reunion was an interesting one. The only way his doctor was going to release him was if Sophy stayed and so she agreed to stay for a month. Their few days alone are spent getting used to each other again. There is a marvelous dog Gunnar, George being stubborn and trying to do for himself and Sophy walking on eggs. Through also into the mix, George's sister Tallie who we met in Anne's earlier Savas books. A warm and noisy Greek family. Plus the arrival of their daughter Lily, who can't see enough of her father.
To say that I adored this romance is an understatement. I have read all of the Savas romances and George and Sophy's was incredible. You'll shed a tear or two especially when George sees his daughter Lily, something he had sincerely waited for and wasn't going to wait for any longer. It was such a sweet reunion for the two of them, plus adding Gunnar to the mix. Of course, it wouldn't be a great romance if there weren't obstacles to overcome and it certainly wasn't passion. It was communication! Sophy sincerely loved George but she still felt he "felt obligated" and in the end that's what again caused her to take Lily and leave. Reading the ending chapters were frustrating because I knew George loved and adored them both. It was Sophy who needed to trust, trust her instincts, trust that she was NOT an obligation, that she was cherished, loved and adored. It took George and Gunnar hopping on the next plane to California and telling her it had always been her, that he had always loved her giving all three of them a most happy ending thanks to this amazing author.

A delightful story. The H is strong but sensitive. The h is not a doormat. It had a lot of depth for a book of this genre. I can't wait to read more by this author.

George Savas has a tendency to clean up after his now deceased cousin, Ari. George also had an attraction to his cousin's latest squeeze, Sophy. So it was no hardship for George to step in and proved for the pregnant Sophy when Ari died.
After their seemingly happy start in marriage, Sophy eavesdrops and hears something that she misconstrues. Isn't that always the case? Well, at any rate, this quickly separates the two and George and Sophy don't come together again until he is in an accident and the staff calls her as she is still his wife. Neither George or Sophy had initiated divorce proceedings over the years. Sophy feels she owes George for what he had done for her years ago and so she instigates payback and George manipulates a few things to get what he wants. However, he soon finds he may have bitten off more than he can chew.
I liked George and Sophy together they seemed to have a few lighthearted moments. They didn't come across as deeply passionate though, but definitely comfortable w/ one another. It just didn't have anything that stuck out as overly memorable in the story.
