Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Stetsasonic/De La Soul/Gravediggaz producer Prince Paul is one of hip hop’s authentic Big Cheese’s. On Hip Hop Gold Dust he steps forward with an anthology of rarities culled from his personal collection. This kind of project could easily be filled with any old boom-bap claptrap but the compiler is well aware that even in the seemingly inexhaustible world of rap music, you’re only as good as your last album. Gathering together a stellar array of talent--De La Soul, Stetsasonic, Biz Markie, Gravediggaz, May May, Resident Alien--he really does bring a gold-standard selection. Using his signature skits as links between his famously wide range of styles, Paul strings together bumpin’ instrumentals and sweet neo-soul, reggae songs and old skool block-party slammers. Twenty years on, and The Prince still seems incapable of putting a foot wrong. Gold dust ain’t wrong.

Great Release for '05 From Prince Paul 29 Dec 2005
By YoungBuck519 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
First off I wanna start by saying that the production on this album is Solid. Prince Paul always puts out the best production possible and it's nice to see that he hasn't stopped makin bangers.

This album is almost like a compilation with tracks from De La Soul, Gravediggaz, Last Emperor, Chubb Rock & Biz Markie. Gravediggaz were featured on three tracks "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark","Constant Elevation and "Suicide" in which they are all standouts on this album. It isn't hard to believe though with Classic albums such as 6 Feet Deep and The Pick, The Sickle and The Shovel Gravediggaz can't go wrong.(For those that don't know, Gravediggaz is a group consisting of RZA from Wu-Tang, Frukwan of Stetsasonic, Poetic(R.I.P.) and Prince Paul).

There is a variation between tracks since there are so many featured artists so it is hard to describe exactly what kind of vibe this album gives. If Your a fan of Prince Paul this album won't dissapoint. If you enjoy this album I would also recomend the albums 6 Feet Deep- Gravediggaz and A Prince Among Theives-Prince Paul.

Standout Tracks: "My Mindstate","Don't Be Afraid of the Dark","Sucker For Love","No Rubber, No Backstage Pass","Constant Elevation","The Monolith","Suicide","Prince Paul vs. the World"

A journey through the career of a hip hop master 6 Oct 2007
By Prophess - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Worth it for the 'Suicide' remix, alone.

This is a bunch of unreleased or remixed tracks. Liner notes include a blurb about each one giving an insight into the creation process, or why the track wasn't released etc.

This collection gives you an idea of why Prince Paul is so revered. He's been at it for a fair while now and has been involved in some seminal joints.

Grab it.
