This is a flawed steam generator iron, although it does have some decent features. The main flaw is that it doesn't provide continuous steam like some other branded models - you have to keep pressing a button to generate steam and the amount of steam generated is far from generous.
It has a useful and easy to use push button digital display control panel for setting the steam. There are four settings (no steam, maximum steam, medium steam and low steam) and the display panel indicates which setting you have it on. However, even on the maximum steam setting, the amount of steam generated is very unimpressive - it really is not very powerful at all. Couple this with the fact that the iron itself is very light (all the working parts are in the tank stand) and you're left with an under-performing iron. If the steam was continuous and you didn't have to keep pressing a button every 10 seconds to generate it, then it might be more effective and, therefore, a worthwhile investment.
Another flaw is that it's fitted with an anti-calc cartridge that needs replacing after the 1 litre water tank has been used approximately 180 times. To order a new anti-calc cartridge you have to phone a customer services department and confirm the current price (including packing & postage) and then fill in an order form (contained in the instruction manual) and send it off with a cheque! A very old fashioned and antiquated process.
It has a couple of decent features - the water tank is removable and therefore filling and re-filling is very easy. It also starts emitting a relatively quiet beeping warning if it's left unattended for 15 minutes. The instruction manual is very well put together too.
I cannot recommend this iron. The only advantage that it has over a traditional steam iron is that you don't have to re-fill the water tank as often. And that's it. Given the overall size of this compared to a standard iron, not to mention the price, it's not a worthwhile trade-off. In summary, this iron may look the part but it falls short in a number of areas, primarily the lack of continuous steam.
