The map of the south of the Algarve is excellent and shows more roads and tracks than any other tourist map of the area. However the map of the S Alentejo, which is printed on the reverse side, has been made very much smaller than it appeared on the earlier edition of Hildebrand's map. It is now so small as to be almost useless. To read it one needs a magnifying glass and the amount of detail is much reduced. The map remains better than its rivals but I do not understand why useful mapping information, not readily available elsewhere, has to be left out for the sake of town maps, which are so easily available from Tourist information centres.TIC's carry stocks of better maps of all the towns on Hildebrand's town-map list, and not just of the town in which the TIC is situated.
