Revelation's Region 2 release of the third season has generally good picture & sound quality, along with English subtitles. This 7-disc collection provides 24 instalments of Michael Landon's fondly-remembered 80's TV series, which includes a two-part story & one extended episode.
For those who remember it, the series needs no introduction of course, so here's a brief synopsis for the uninitiated: Blessed with divine powers, Jonathan Smith (Michael Landon) is an angel sent from Heaven on a variety of 'assignments' to offer help & guidance to the likes of the sick/disabled/troubled & lost etc. Jonathan is accompanied by the streetwise & wisecracking Mark Gordon (played by the hirsute Victor French) in a collection of 'human' stories.
I can still recall the stick I used to get from friends back then, after I confessed my fondness for the series, with cries of "corny" and "maudlin" still ringing in my ears!.... But the stories are always well-crafted & moving, with many themes and issues remaining relevant to this day. An excellent series - often poignant and sad, yet also humorous & uplifting. A show with it's heart placed firmly in the right place.
