5.0 out of 5 stars Mind-blowing 13 Nov 2002
By Friendlycard VINE VOICE
Format:Audio CD
There are many dimensions to superb guitarist Snowy White's music - blues, rock, pop - and this album is towards the rock end of the spectrum, though not without blues undertones.
The title track and 'Red Hot Saturday Night' are the stand-out cuts, but this is one of Snowy's most consistent albums, and an absolute 'must-own' for anyone keen on guitar-based rock at its very best.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gentle Blues 18 April 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I have admired Snowy for many years; he is a talented guitarist who has played with many top of the range bands. This album is gentle very melodic blues I would have liked a little more of the rawness (not sure if that is a word). Worth a listen but not his best work in my opinion.

1.0 out of 5 stars Sorry, not what I expected....again 8 May 2011
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I had the fortune to see Snowy play live with Roger Waters at the NEC a few years ago, the blistering performance he gave in the guitar solo on Comfortably Numb, caused me to search out more of his work. I have bought 4 of his discs and this is my fifth. I have also seen him play live with his band. To my disappointment he has yet to replicate the obvious skills he showed that night at the NEC. I have found his cd's been rather bland. This one I would certainly not describe as rock, rather middle of the road, expecting someone to start singing 'chirpy chirpy cheep cheep'. I read the other review on this cd before buying and thought that this may offer an opportunity to once again appreciate his skill, sadly it does not. It has been another waste of money for me. OK this review may be a tad rough, but I have witnessed some amazing skill by the man on stage, but it has not been reproduced since. Tread carefully.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent disc 6 Jan 2002
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Highway To The Sun is the CD that introduced me to Snowy White. It features some excellent songs, such as the title track, Can't Find Love, The Time Has Come, Keep On Working and Love, Pain and Sorrow, which features a blistering solo from David Gilmour.
In my opinion, probably the best of Snowy White's solo work.

5.0 out of 5 stars This album is a must! 26 Aug 2002
By Niels Andersen - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I'm quite new to Snowy White as I heard him for the first time at Roger Waters' In The Flesh Tour in the summer of 2002. I liked the soft and bluesy sound of his Gibson Les Paul and decided to check out his discography.
Highway to the Sun was the fourth Snowy White album that I got and I like it a lot. It's a very laid back and unpolished album - something between the raw Blues Agency albums and the more polished Restless album. I have no real favorites on this album, as every track is very good. I'm sure Snowy White and co. was having a good time recording this album and it comes off on the listener. Chris Rea, David Gilmour and Gary Moore plays respectively slide- and lead guitar on three tracks, which makes this album even more fascinating. As Snowy writes: I Can't Get Enough Of The Blues (track 11) and neither can I... :-)
Snowy White has occasionally re-issued old tracks on his albums - either in a new arrangement or in the original version as a bonus track. As for instance, track 5 (The Time has Come) on Highway to the Sun appears in a more polished version on the Restless album.
Highway to the Sun is one of the best albums I have bought for a very long time, and it continues to grow every time I hear it. Maybe this one is the very best Snowy White album up to now, so I can only recommend that you order it immediately. This album is a must...

1.0 out of 5 stars More Disappointment from Snowy 16 Feb 2000
By Bob Davis - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I bought this album for $3 in the 'get rid of it bin', which says most of it. Snowy has always had a lot of potiential which is frustratingly never reached. I believe he needs to: 1. Fire his producers (himself and Kuma Harada) and find someone to bring the best out of the songs. 2. Snowy is a talented guitarist, but on too many of the tracks, his guitar is relegated to the middle background. 3. Snowy's voice is not bad, but it seems to always intrude.
So many of the tracks start off seeming not too bad, but never rise to the expected level. Chris Rea, Garry Moore and Dave Gilmour are all totally wasted on their appearances.
