5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent practical advice 6 Sep 2001
Format:Paperback
The highway code shines in clearly and simply supplying all the basic practical driving advice you need to start out on British roads, when it could so easily have become just a recital of the law.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential for anyone learning to drive. 11 July 2001
Format:Paperback
This book is one of the most essential pieces of equipment, and any learner driver shouldn't be without a copy of this book. It will help you through both theory, and practical tests. I would recommend it to everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Invaluable for all drivers 28 Sep 2001
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
Essential if you're about to embark on the UK theory test. Much easier to read than previous versons, no longer resembling a small chunk of legal documentation but becoming a clear and concise description of rules and advice for all drivers in the UK

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything on it... 1 Jun 2005
Format:Paperback
For £1.49, you honestly cant go wrong. Has got everything you ever need to know, including road signs and markings, and includes bits for pedestrians and those driving on two wheels. Worth the price, and something new or even old drivers should have lying around...

3.0 out of 5 stars Useful but tedious. 5 Dec 2004
Format:Paperback
On the positive side, its a quick way to learn the theory, as all the questions in your driving licence theory exam are based on it. However, it is quite patronising, so it could could be boring. But hey, its cheap, small enough to take anywhere and useful if you want to pass your test!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lerning to drive? 3 Jun 2005
Format:Paperback
I'm a learner driver, and I have to say, you really could do with owning the highway code. You practically have to know it cover-to-cover to pass your theory exam. (Note: The exam part, NOT the hazard perception part. that is a totally different animal, believe me!)

3.0 out of 5 stars Useful guide for all drivers. 13 July 2005
Format:Paperback
You should buy this book. No question. Don't fall in to the trap of thinking that it's not for you just because you have been driving for years - thats' the sort of attitude that causes accidents! These things get updated you know. But whilst the presentation is first rate, there are some grey areas - this book simply lays out the rules, not how to put them in to practice. So I suggest you buy this book in addition to Driving: The Essential Skills, or Roadcraft.

2.0 out of 5 stars Errrm...well 30 Jun 2005
Format:Paperback
I know that this book is vital/essential etc etc and I am by no means an idiot nor do I have a short attention span, but this book just makes my eyes glaze over. I do realise it's not meant to be an enjoyable & gripping read, its just the confusing index (I would appreciate the numbers pages or sections MOST relevant to be in bold or italic so I'm not on a wild goose chase looking up a sentence that mentions the topic barely in passing), drab diagrams, not really properly divided sections, no main pages on crossings (especially for the driver's point of view) etc etc

However, I have managed to read it over several caffiene kicks, but there's just something about this book that makes it all go in one ear and out of the other.
