I have just bought this product, and want to say how impressed I was with the quality considering how inexpensive it was. I was able to heat it up on a hot day - the water temp was ok - and I would imagine even if it is not that warm, the fact that one can shower wherever would mean it was worth having. I actually bought 2 to ensure plenty of warm water, or was it so I don't have to share it with my husband?!!

Well, you can't expect too much for that sort of money. That was my outlook when I ordered it. When it came I was pleasantly surprised. The vinyl seemed perfectly substantial and it had a reinforced tube in the handle where the hanging cord attaches. The filler was easily used and it could be filled from a tap or a river equally well.
I had read all the customer reviews so was expecting the tubing to fall off, which it did. Now you could gaffer tape it back on but a neater solution is a quick roughen up with sandpaper and a dab of shower sealant. A proper job in no time. So why don't Gelert do that in the first place? It comes ready assembled so presumably someone is putting tube 'a' on to spout 'b'. Would it add too much to the unit cost to seal it?
The output from the shower head is pretty feeble but from experience with similar set-ups you soon develop a satisfactory technique. I may drill a few more tiny holes in the head and I feel sure that will go some way towards getting a better shower.
It has a chart on the black side showing time and temperature achievable (given an ambient temperature of 21C) The outside temp in the sun was 8C and I managed 12C water temp after 2 and 1/2 hours. So in the summer very possibly there will be hot water
I bought this to provide two showers per day while wild camping by a Scottish loch. I think it will do the job fine. I would recommend this item with some reservations. As I said at the start, you get what you pay for.

I bought 2 of these for going travelling in South America. Admittedly, the price didn't fill me with much confidence as to how they would perform but I decided to give them a shot.

I should have gone with my gut feeling. All they seem to be good for is pouring cold water on yourself, which any decent bucket will be able to do. They don't seem to heat up to any comfortable temperature, no matter how long they get left in the sun for. The best I managed was verging on lukewarm. The tubes leak, forcing me to resort to duck taping them to the bag, the bags don't empty properly due to the placement of the tube and the handle began to rip even with only a half full bag. The flow is dodgy as well unless the bag is hung from something. Tough if you don't have anywhere to do so.

The one good thing about them is that the tap for turning the water flow on and off is pretty rugged.

Basically, just get yourself a bucket instead.

I read all the reviews about this before purchase - used it on a weekend camping trip for 2, and only had to refill once. It did the job perfectly well, and heated up quite nicely after 2 - 3 hours in the sun - it isnt a power shower, so it's never going to be boiling hot, but if you are happy with definitely warmer than tepid, then this will do the job for you.
I see what other reviewers mean about the connections leaking a little - but then I didnt pay hundreds of pounds, so dont really expect too much - it is also quite heavy when full.
Final note to anyone buying this ( or at least any camping novices like me) - the plastic tube is to put through the top to strengthen it for hanging - it might sound obvious, but it wasnt to me, and I left it at home, having wondered for ages what part it played in this gadget - nearly ripped the top of the bag with the weight without it!

I have just bought one of these and it does heat the water up to a good heat and it wasn't a particularily hot day I tried it on. My problem with it is when it's full it's very heavy and you need to have it up high to get a good flow from the shower so it's very hard to find anywhere high enough and strong enough to hold the bag. Not so good if you're wanting to use it in a shower tent! That said, I will be taking mine camping simply to heat up water.

This is quite an effective budget shower for use while camping, especially wild-camping, in the summer.

I pop mine on my car roof during the daytime, leaving it in the sun for as long as possible to warm up, then return to it for a quick shower in the early evening. By this time, I'm hot and sweaty and more than ready for a shower - so this is just what I need and I leave it on the roof with the shower hose directed between the opening rear doors of my Kangoo. Obviously, the shower doesn't have a thermostat and the temperature it reaches is governed by how sunny the weather is and the outdoor temperature but on a warm day (25 deg) it certainly warms up the water.

I find it works best by not fully filling the bag - which helps ensure a more even water temperature and also makes it easier to lift as 20 litres weigh 20kg and this can be quite unwieldy to lift above head height.

The only drawback is that, while it's good for a warm trickle shower, it is useless for washing long, thick hair so this is something I have to forgo but - hey, I am camping and there are ample camp-sites available for anyone wanting full facilities and all mod cons!

If you're looking for a means of having a warm rinse-down at the end of the day and want to avoid camp-sites, then this is just what you need.
