About the Author

John Bird, the author of over 100 textbooks on engineering and mathematical subjects, is the former Head of Applied Electronics in the Faculty of Technology at Highbury College, Portsmouth, U.K. More recently, he has combined freelance lecturing at Portsmouth University, with technical writing and Chief Examiner responsibilities for City and Guilds Telecommunication Principles and Mathematics, and examining for the International Baccalaureate Organisation. John Bird is currently a Senior Training Provider at the Royal Naval School of Marine Engineering in the Defence College of Marine and Air Engineering at H.M.S. Sultan, Gosport, Hampshire, U.K. The school, which serves the Royal Navy, is one of Europe's largest engineering training establishments.

This book has been produced by a very experienced author with a track record of quality textbooks. I have used many of his works over 30 years of teaching and this book is no exception. I can thoroughly recommend it to those teachers or students studying the 3 BTEC HN Engineering Mathematics units.

The lay out is perfect: theory, examples, exercise. I give full credit to this book allowing me to get 100% in my final engineering mathematics exam. Its a hefty book which seems to cover everything.

If you are studying or teaching A Level,Btec NC,HNC,HND or Higher this is the one to go for
It is well written with worked examples to go through and it sells on Amazon for a good price new or Second hand.
John Bird has written a lot of fine text books in Mathematics and Engineering and they are all value for money with subject knowledge and worked examples.
You can spend a lot of time and money looking for a fine maths book ;
BUY THIS ONE!

It has to be said that some authors, even for 'technical' material, just click with the reader. Well John Birds books 'rock my boat', well explained, clear, practical, based in the real world. Interesting to follow through for the sheer interest.

Lives on my bookshelf and will remain there.

This book is well laid out, provides clear explanations and also has practice questions with answers. Also have the authors Mechanical Engineering Principles book which is also a quality book to learn from. Can't go wrong with any engineering book by this author it seems.

Any book by John Bird is going to be helpful to you, i also have the Electrical theory book, it also provides a vast amount of knowledge and methodology to my work, contains all formulas needed to pass any engineering maths class.
