This is Gerry's 4th studio album, and the first since the Irish Times named No Place Like Home the Number 1 Traditional/Folk album of the year in 2004.
Gerry has had three previous solo albums to his credit: 1992 saw the release of Gerry's first album "Time to Time" which is now considered a classic. "Myriad" was released in 1999, which features many of Gerry's own compositions and supported by such musical colleagues as Steve Cooney, Manus Lunny, Vinnie Kilduff, Kevin Doherty, and Mairtin O Connor.
His latest album, High Up - Low Down features 12 Tracks of pure banjo magic. He is joined by many friends, including Kevin Doherty on vocals for 2 songs, as well as Sharon Shannon, Mick Kinsella, and Tony Byrne on Guitar.

I'm so happy this arrived. It's hard to import quality Irish music, sometimes. I first heard this performer on "The Rough Guide to Irish Music" and I was very pleased to obtain some of his albums. It's like a prize, to have an entire cd of his playing.
Heard this playing in the background of a traditional Irish pub while on holiday. I was enjoying it so much I had to ask the barman what it was. I had previously seen Gerry O'Connor on stage with the Sharon Shannon band and loved his playing. As soon as I returned from holiday I was straight on to Amazon and ordered it and I love it. I've been home a month and it's been played at least once every day ! He's just an amazing banjo player and the selection of tunes on this CD are a joy to listen to. I'd highly recommend it to everyone for their collection.
