Jamiroquai have always been one of my favourite bands right from the early Acid Jazz days up to the more commercial dance/pop tunes of today. Ok, so it always seems to be about Jay Kay, flash cars and paparazzi bust ups nowadays (or so the media likes to portray), but once upon a time, there was a cool band that was original, talented and wrote wicked songs.

This 'greatest hits' album takes you on a fantastic journey through the lifetime of Jamiroquai, and makes you sit back and realise how incredible the band have been.

The early Acid Jazz days with tracks such as 'Too young to die' have always been my favourites, but the list of singles show how versatile this band have been at adapting their sound in the ever changing, industry of music.

Bands like Jamiroquai and The Brand New Heavies (who also have a new album out), have been around for a while now and are already influencing new, up and coming bands and artists such as 'Chichino', which goes to show that they have definately made a big impact in the music industry over the last 14 years.

We need more music like this in what seems to be an indie-guitar dominated world at the moment. More upbeat, danceable funky songs to strutt our stuff to please!!

It is clear that jamiroquai are something of an unusual band. I remember seeing them for the first time on TV in around 1993, (I think it was the show, The Word) performing Too Young To Die, and immediately clocked the retro 70's jazz funk style and as i was and still am a fan of such music, immediately became a fan and went out and bought the single.
The fender rhodes keys, the Stevie Wonder-esque voice, the funky bass and horns, and the sci-fi imagery and lyrics, all came to make a great sound and package, and whats more the first proper British jazz funk since Light of The World, and a great antidote to the Brit pop or electronicky stuff around.
Their first album was a constant visitor to my Cd player.
What was more surprising that they became so popular, as they were so unusual.
OK, the Acid Jazz movement was in full swing, but they transcended that and outlasted it.
This Cd shows the development of the band and their sound, from the early raw jazz funk tracks through the disco-funk of A Funk Odyssey to the later stuff, it is clear that the sound has changed over that time, yet still sounds like Jamiroquai.
What is also clear is that the earlier stuff is far superior to their latest offerings.
They produced five top notch albums all with a clear progression of style, and then their last one; and that was a huge disappointment. The edginess had gone from the music, to be replaced by a bland self satisfied sound playing lip service to their earlier work, trapped in some kind of disco-pap hell.
One of the aspects of Jamiroquai's music that made it so different; the wonderful didgeridoo inspired instrumentals had disappeared a while ago, and their loss was keenly felt.
The stuff from Dynamite all sounds a bit samey, as do the new offerings here.

High Times: Singles 1992-2006 by ~ Jamiroquai is an album which deserve the highest praise for delivering quality music. Music should be like this, as it tuneful, sheer class and most of all quality, not all this manufactured rubbish which the music industry is bombarded with today. The album features some memorable funky and dance music closely associated with the 90's. The album features 19 singles, which are great joy and pleasure to listen to. Some of big and memorable hits featured in this album include Too young to die, Blow your mind, Emergency on planet earth, Space Cowboy, Virutal Insanity, Cosmic Girl and so on. Listening to the singles sure relightens your mood and makes you feel good. It is feel good music.

High Times: Singles 1992-2006 by ~ Jamiroquai is what real music should entail. This album certainly satisfies my musical taste. If you love dance and funky music, you will certainly like this album. It is a great album, well worth purchasing for the quality it brings.

It isn't until you see the track listing for this album that you realise what a long running and continuously successful career Jamiroquai have had. From their debut single; "When you gunna learn" which peaked at #52 in the charts to their newest realease "Runaway" this album has all the highs and lows of their career.

Jamiroquai, lead by singer songwriter Jay-K, were set up after he failed to get a part in the 90's band "Brand New Heavies" and after their fourteen successful years in the spotlight, Jamiroquai have had a total of 20 band members and have recorded with the likes of Jools Holland, Kool and the Gang and Beverley Knight to name a few.

For anyone who [very sadly] don't know who or what Jamiroquai are, their sound can be described as Acid-Jazz Funk Pop Dance with exceptional vocal parts from Jay-K as well as brilliant guitar riffs, excellent strings, fabulous rhythmns and funky bass lines, and their sound is an all together catchy and loveable one at that.

And whilst Jamiroquai have had some fabulous hit singles, you may be shocked to know that alot of their tracks peaked outside of the top ten, and alot also outside of the top twenty. And in their 14 year career Jamiroquai have only managed to score one number one record in the UK singles charts. Dispite this their albums have all been consistantly successful, all peaking within the top three, many of which went to number one!

"High Times" is collection of Jamiroquai's most successful works to date, featuring their huge songs; "Canned Heat", "Cosmic Girl" and their number one single (which featured in the Godzilla movie) "Deeper Underground".
