Book Description

For the first time actress Joan Sims tells of her fascinating life in show- business, with funny and touching anecdotes from a celebrated career in film, television, radio and stage.

From the Back Cover

From Nurse Dawson in Carry On Nurse to Mrs Dangle in Carry On Emmanuelle, Joan Sims has appeared in twenty-four Carry On films, and roles such as Belle ('my intimate friends call me Ding Dong') in Carry On Cowboy and Lady Ruff-Diamond in Carry On Up The Khyber have brought her world-wide recognition.

Here Joan Sims shares affectionate memories of co-stars Sid James, Hattie Jacques, Kenneth Williams, Bernard Bresslaw and Barbara Windsor, as well as revealing the darker side of the Carry On phenomenon - the poor salaries, breakneck schedules and less than comfortable working conditions. She remembers the great comedy stars she has appeared alongside - amongst them Frankie Howerd, the Two Ronnies, Stanley Baxter and Victoria Wood. In this nostalgic trip through the very best of film TV and theatre from the last forty years, one of our best-loved actresses tells her story for the first time. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.
