I enjoyed this album on it's first listen, so that is a plus for me. It's a mixture of Heavy and Melodic Metal. There are 5 stand out tracks for me:
Battle of Wrath
Lost in the Shadows
This band doesn't sit in a specific metal category as the tracks vary between commercial metal, melodic and heavy metal.
Kobra and the Lotus last album was good, but this is better, they sound a bit like A Sound of Thunder or Vandroya, but aren't as Heavy as Battle Beast, a good blend of metal tracks, some more energetic than others.
So if you like like stuff from Avenged Sevenfold, to Battle Beast, to Delain, you might like them.

Kobra and her rockin' kohorts return with the follow-up to their self-titled offering of 2012, and I think this is better all round - Kobra has found an even more powerful / soulful register for her all-conquering voice, and the songs are generally more developed, hitting a style that retains the powerful overtones of metal whilst leaving room for strong hooks, plus real emotion and depth. Cool artwork, too, and the recent pics I've seen of Kobra would seem to indicate a new more potentially crossover style. High Priestess, indeed - all hail!

Modern 80's Style True Metal With Amazing Vocals and Solos-- Yes, Please. 14 July 2014
By Trey David Wood - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
I had heard enough songs from their first album -- which I don't own, yet -- to be intrigued about this new one, so I was eager to check it out as soon as possible. All the promise and potential I heard from their debut material has been refined and improved upon in High Priestess. Simply put, this is a great album in the 80's true metal style, which has enough of its own modern elements not to feel dated or trite. The vocals from Kobra Paige really make this band stand out; she is like a female reincarnation of Ronnie James Dio, and she just owns the material all the way through the album. The musicianship is top notch, as well. I haven't heard fresh, electrifying guitar solos like this from a band in a long time-- and it's not enough for them to be merely fast, they must have an enjoyable melody; and the solos on this record have both speed and melody in spades. If you love true metal (and if you're bothering to read this review I assume you do), you owe it to yourself to get this album, or at least check it out. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Mixed Feelings.... 29 Jun 2014
By Jerred D - Published on Amazon.com

I really like this band, but...

This offering is a little bit all over the place for music style and identity. Kobra's voice sounds (on most tracks) like she is forcing it into a lower register and over playing the long notes where a short note would do.

The good
Soldier - best song on the album. good vocals, guitar riffs.
I am, I am - Second best song
Hold on - Good

The Meh (I just didn't feel them)
Heartbeat (May grow on me)
Visionary - nice chorus, but the rest is just meh
Lost in Shadows (It's sung like a ballad. it may grow on me, its just so lonnngggg)

The Bad
High Priestess - Why do 90% of all title tracks suck? I mean really? the words "High Priestess" are sung like 100 times
Warhorse - "Warhorse" Sung like 100 times

I wish we could give 1/2 stars because I would really just give it a 3 1/2 rating.

I edited this after listing to the album over a few days and adjusted my opinions of a few of the songs.
