High Life is set in 1983 & features Timothy Olyphant (A Perfect Getaway) as Dick, a hospital janitor who is there solely for the access it grants him to his vice, morphine. When his psychotic former cellmate, Bug (Stephen Eric McIntyre), shows up fresh from prison looking for clean needles and dope, he gets Dick fired in a flash.

Deperate for cash, the junkies dream up a plan to raid the new technology of ATMs posing as repair men. With only a few friends, Dick and Bug have to rely on their fellow tweakers to play the supporting roles in the heist and the plan quickly unravels, forcing them into desperate measures and testing long-standing friendships. Rossif Sutherland deserves special merit as the ultra-smooth Parisian-junky with a Serge Gainsbourg-esque air about him who acts as their face-man.

The film is brilliantly shot and really feels like 1983; the music, clothing, machines and even the adverts on TV ring true. There are copious shots of drug-taking and paraphernalia, it is similar to Requiem For A Dream in that respect but doesn't explore the nature of addiction like RFAD did rather choosing to concentrate on the stupid and comedic things addiction will drive you to do. The action is frenetic and fast-paced with a couple of twists I didn't see coming as the amateur robbers bungle from one calamity to the next with a couple of laugh-out-loud moments along the way.

A decent film with great production values, a solid cast and an interesting story even if it is a bit short, weighing in at barely 80 minutes (including the credits)!! DVD is bog standard; there is a director's commentary and the menus are nothing inspired. Despite this it's definitely worth a watch!!

Probably the worst movie i have ever seen in my life. Storyline? Nope didn't see one. Acting? Nope didn't see any.. Just a totally bizarre movie. I wouldn't even call it a movie. I just don't know how to descibe this film. It's basically a complete waste of space. I spent 75 minutes watching this s***. I feel like i have wasted my time.

PS - Was going to rate this a ZERO STAR, but it wouldn't let me. Had to give it a ONE STAR. It doesn't even deserve a one. I don't know why i'am giving a review of such a terrible movie.

Infact, i hope no human being tortures themselves by watching this.

This film was bought for my mum as she is a big Timothy Olyphant fan. She wasn't disappointed, the acting was good and was very humorous even tho it was about a serious subject.
