5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Ideas for High Impact CVS 25 Jan 2005
Format:Paperback
I have several CV books but brought this one online after browsing at the bookshop. I can honestly say that unlike most of my other books, most of the ideas in this book were new and useful - with 'idea' chapters specially catering for all situations from how to present yourself in your CV if you are a serial job-hopper to how to overcome a long stay in just one job. I know that I now am better placed to write a new CV to get my dream job. The other books in this series are also worth checking out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book 25 Jun 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I downloaded this to my kindle because it was free and didn't have very high expectations, but I'm very pleased to say it did the trick!

I have a few books on CV writing and thought my CV was pretty good until I read this. Based on the recommendations, I totally re-vamped my CV and managed to get 3 interviews and a job offer with a top company within 6 weeks which is a record for me, it usually takes me an average of 3 months to find a new role.

For me, the most useful advice was :
1) Strip out any irrelevant information
2) Tailor your CV for each role, showcasing only the achievements/skills that are most relevant to the role in question
3) Frame your achievements in a way that demonstrates and quantifies your value-add

The above also helped me to focus my thoughts and naturally caused me to tailor my approach in interviews.

I was also shocked to realise that most people don't read your whole CV so if the first half of the first page doesn't grab the hiring manager's attention you can forget it...

In summary, great book, highly recommended and better than other books that I've paid for.

Good price and a quick delivery. It has some great tips inside, but little lengthy. The best thing is that it was free.

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful for job hunters 12 April 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As a recent graduate, many of the little tips and hints in this book have helped me to improve my CV. Although a few are not relevant, it has contributed towards job applications and since the book was free, I cannot complain about its contents.
