Synopsis

This is a book for anyone who has ever wistfully looked at pictures of parties at grand country houses and imagined what it must be like to enjoy such stylish entertaining. Now Amy Willcock, the well-known food writer and lifestyle guru, reveals how you can do just that by following the recipes in this new book.Inspired by her visits to English Heritage properties, Amy has used her cookery flair and expertise to produce 21st-century recipes with a truly historical flavour. Ranging from breakfasts at Kenwood House to society buffets at Eltham Palace and cosy suppers at Walmer Castle, this book is packed with fabulous ideas. However, "High Heels and Hollandaise" is far more than a recipe book. It reveals how our houses have been used for entertaining and how we can adapt elements to our own lifestyles; what cookery equipment we ought to have; how the house and the table should be dressed; what we can do to make guests feel really special - as well as masses of handy hints, intriguing anecdotes and snippets of useful information. This beautifully illustrated book will ensure that anyone can produce a dish that emulates the style of the grandest of English homes - and still have the time to luxuriate in a bubble bath before the meal!
