Oddly, for someone who once had such a major international hit (with "The Lady In Red", of course), de Burgh plays out his almost folk-y rock music to fanatical, almost cult-size audiences nowadays. Maybe it's for the best. For it's in the live setting that de Burgh's own distinctive brand of soft rock--full-on narratives full of climatic themes, painted with broad sweeps of emotion--really comes into its own. Stand-outs here include "Spanish Train"--a Paradise Lost for the late 20th Century--and its fellow Spanish Train And Other Stories track, the haunting "A Spacemen Came Travelling". High On Emotion is a good place as any to catch the de Burgh live experience. --Everett True
