A fantastic book, I'm new to the world of broadcast equipment and am expecting to start working in product development for a specialist camera and motion control company. I was recomended this book to get me up to speed with some of the more general technical information & processes used in broadcast & cinema. So far the general content of the book has not disappointed.

HOWEVER i purchased the book in the kindle format and have just discovered that the Colour Plate pages are not included, I feel that these colour plates are a very important part of the book.

Fortunately i have a friend who has a paperback copy of the book so i can use his Colour Plate pages for reference.

If you find these colour plates of importance i suggest you buy the paperback version!

Paul Wheeler's book is really great. If you come from the world of film and want to get into high def cinematography this book is for you. Be warned this book is NOT for beginners. This book is for people with a fair amount of film/digital camera knowledge. I really enjoyed it and got a clear view of the High Definition world. I truly recommend it.

Very technical, and very basic 18 Oct 2010
By Kurtis Sensenig - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I am a professional documentary filmmaker at the University of Pennsylvania, and because I am young and early in my career, I got this book to improve my skills in cinematography. It's not a terrible book, but I wasn't able to get anything useful out of it. It seems to be the same information I learned simply by doing a lot of research when buying my HD cameras; information I got from various websites and just by reading camera reviews. Though I suppose it does get a little deeper in the technical realm, this isn't what I thought of when I wanted to learn more about cinematography. I wanted guidance in the craft and art. This book doesn't provide that, so if you only want technical info about how HD cameras work, this is the book for you.
