Having been writing guidebooks and other work about Disney and their theme parks for almost 20 years, we like to think of this as a whole new breed of guidebook, one that both informs, guides and enriches the reader's appreciation of these wonderful theme park creations.
We took the style and ethic of Susan's 'Hidden Magic of WDW' as our starting point and went back to basics, telling stories, finding more 'hidden magic' and providing the kind of info we'd want to know, both as first-timers and repeat visitors. It is at once a clear and concise explanation of what's there and how to enjoy it all, and a continuous narrative, a story of how this 47-square-mile entertainment colossus came about and has evolved over time.
The whole story of Walt and his stunningly creative Imagineers is an integral part of any WDW visit, but it is also one which we feel many visitors miss, hence they miss out on some of the essential 'magic' of being in and around the parks, resorts, restaurants, shops and nightlife. So much of the pure enjoyment of a Disney park is the simple excitement of 'being there' rather than dashing from attraction to attraction, and we really want our readers to stop, smell the roses and drink in the many visual and other sensory delights that make these more than mere rides and shows.
But we also know people need practical advice on how to plan and prepare for everything in store, how to avoid the pitfalls that await the unwary, and how to get the very best of their time here, which is never enough, no matter how many times you go (and we should know as we live barely 5 minutes away!).
And, in order to make the most of every visit, it's important to soak up every experience to the max, revel in the sheer fantasy and indulgence of it all, and collect every memory to take home with you. Therefore, we have added a whole new element to our work, the chance for you, our readers, to pick up small mementos and write your own 'story' as you go.
We know how wonderful it is to get home and look back over a holiday, not just the photos, but the collection of tickets and other paraphernalia that go into these events, and to have your own thoughts and memories written down at the time, preserved always as the ultimate keepsake of what we firmly believe is the ultimate holiday experience.

Great companion to the Hidden Magic of WDW Book

I purchased the Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World book when it was first published and was greatly impressed with it. Instead of telling me where I should run off to next to enjoy my WDW vacation, it instead showed me how to elevate my appreciation of the parks to a whole new level. As a result, when I speak with veteran WDW guests who believe they've seen it all, I frequently recommend the book to them as a way to take their visits to the next level.
So, imagine my surprise when I happened to look on Amazon the other day and discovered that two of my very favorite WDW experts and authors had published a brand new planner. Without even being certain exactly what I was ordering (though certainly having a good idea), I immediately placed my order for the new planner and received it today.
I haven't fully digested all the information in the new planner yet, it's simply too full of great information to help plan and remember my wonderful WDW vacations. While the Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World was well suited for the experienced WDW visitor, I would highly recommend this to the fairly inexperienced and veteran traveller alike. It's chock full of information to help someone plan their trip to WDW, from choosing a resort, to visiting the parks, and enjoying some great family dining experiences along the way. And there are ample sections in the book placed appropriately to allow one to make memorable journal entries along the way, along with numerous "pocket pages" to collect receipts and photos. They can all be kept permanently in this planner, or transferred to a scrap book later on.
Indeed, for the well seasoned visitor, much, if not most of what is in this planner can be found elsewhere. However, for the pitance that this planner cost me, I anticipate a return on my investment many times over as everything I require to enjoy my WDW trip, and all of my vacation memories, are all collected in one convenient location to help simplify my vacation planning, reduce my planning stress and bring me many years of wonderful vacation memories.

A good planner with lots of extra information

My wife and I used this book when we took our children and grandkids to Walt Disney World last week. I found it had good tips that the official Disney guide did not offer. We stayed at a Disney hotel, and this book had good information about that, too. There is also lots of other material that makes the book useful, especially trivia. I found the book similar to PassPorter's Walt Disney World 2012: The Unique Travel Guide, Planner, Organizer, Journal, and Keepsake!, which has the same "planner" idea but less information.
