5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic 14 Jan. 2013

If you loved Dr Siri (if you haven't read the books about him, do it now!), you'll love Jimm Juree too. She's a bit like a new version of Nurse Dtui in the way she talks and thinks. This makes a great preview to the full books as it starts the story in Chiang Mai. Mair is only a fleeting character here as her brother/sister takes centre stage.
It's not very long but still very satisfying.

A good plot with characters I am beginning to recognise from the first book I read. Slightly unusual in the set up and the 'genders' slide nicely into the story.

Not as enthralling as the Dr Siri stories and therefor a tad disappointing. But it is only a short introduction.

3.0 out of 5 stars Quick and fun 2 Sept. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
You cannot expect much from this appetiser, but there are still sufficient pithy comments on life, Thailand, and the characters in general to offer an enjoying read, while at the same time having the back story fleshed out some more.

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit too short...read his novels... 22 July 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
An enjoyable read - but a bit too brief to build up the characters and tension...ok its a short story..but not as good as the great Dr. Siri mystery series novels by Colin Cotterill set in Laos.

Good fun and shows an in depth quirky aspects of Thai culture without being critical patronising or condescending. Look forward to downloading a full novel
