More About the Author

Ann Somerville grew up in one of Australia's prettiest small cities. In 1989, she left Australia with a BA majoring in English, French and History, and a burning ambition to see more of the world and its people, and to discover this 'culture' thing people kept telling her about. In 2006, she returned home to Southeast Queensland with two more degrees (this time in science and IT), an English husband (and an English accent) and a staggering case of homesickness, vowing never to leave Australia again.

She now writes full-time, working part-time as a contract web programmer to pay for the small luxuries of life, but all she really needs is a laptop and an internet connection for true happiness. Her long, plot-driven fiction featuring gay and bisexual characters has been published by Samhain Publishing and elsewhere. Additionally, copious free full length stories and novels are available on her website.

HASH(0x9f91a72c) out of 5 stars "Emotionally draining at times, Hidden Faults is intense." 28 Nov. 2011
By Melissa - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Years of medical research and patient trials without any progress to show for it is a burden that Dr Jodimai `Jodi' hon Belwin feels every day. Jodi would like nothing better than to find a cure for the paranormals or paras who are persecuted and treated with loathing and bigotry every day of their lives. They are considered pariahs of society and forced to take Naksen, a drug that suppresses their talent with horrifying side effects.

Though Jodi doesn't bear the stigma of the paras he does indulge in an unacceptable activity according to the strict society morals he lives in. Jodi is gay and he hides it by openly dating women. He has to be very careful when he hooks up with a man because if Jodi was ever found out he would lose his job and his standing in the community.

After all the times he feared getting caught with a man something else happens one fateful night, something so unexpected that Jodi doesn't have time to react before he finds himself sent to a place anyone would consider worse than hell. While Jodi is living in a nightmare a man he doesn't remember is attempting to save him. Kir will play a pivotal role in Jodi's life; he will become the one man who could break the doctor when nothing else has so far. Whatever happens next, Jodi's life will never be what he envisioned one simple year ago.

Meticulously detailed and uniquely inventive, Hidden Faults is a riveting alternative reality. Listed as a paranormal fantasy it reads more like a science fiction story from the distinctive setting to the many unfamiliar words that sometimes take you out of the story. The main character, Jodi goes from a frustrating career to hell and then on to a life he never imagined while his romance with Kir begins more than half way through the story. Hidden Faults has pulse pounding drama, suspense, and tension. Jodi undergoes an epic adventure he never expected and handles it with grace and dignity, he is a survivor. The romance is important, especially towards the end, but it's second place to everything else Jodi deals with in most of Hidden Faults. Emotionally draining at times, Hidden Faults is intense.
