Don't get me wrong - this is a series from MB that I do like, but it's far removed from her romantica stuff and should be classed as suspense with a bit of romance thrown in. This is the tale of Garrett, the second oldest Kelly brother, an ex-marine and now part of KGI, and Sarah, the half-sister of Marcus Lattimer, Garrett's enemy.
Sarah is in hiding after witnessing her brother killing a man who had wronged her and when intel gives Garrett a perfect scenario to come into her life in order to be able to gain access to her brother, he takes it. For most of the book, Sarah is scared and distrusting and Garrett is her knight in shining armour, but due to her past, they do not get together romantically until the end of the book.
At the end, things seem to come together very quickly, but I couldn't quite understand how willingly and easily Sarah surrendered to Garrett, or how neat and nice things panned out. I for one would have been seriously annoyed to find out that a man was after me mainly to satisfy a need for revenge, and wouldn't have forgiven Garrett as quickly and easily as Sarah did, but I suppose that facing death at the hands of Mexican baddies and Garrett being tortured whilst trying to shield her might have made her realise that she did, despite appearances and despite Garrett's initial motives, truly mean something to him.
We get to see a fair bit of Van/Donovan in this book, so perhaps he's next in line for his tale, and once again, the army of macho Kelly buddies make an appearance so this series could go on and on.
Overall, a decent enough read, if you're not expecting the hot and steamy stuff every few pages - but IMHO, not a Keeper.
