Product Description

The light hiking collection is designed to meet a variety of outdoor needs. Constructed with the latest technologies and material features, this shoe is hard wearing, high performing and comfortable: everything you require in the outdoors. The aim of Tec-Proof construction is to allow the each material to do their specific, respective jobs. With Tec-Proof, only the seams of the upper are sealed with waterproof cement. All threads used on the shoe are also waterproof threads which do not wick moisture. Meshes are waterproofed with a membrane backer. Despite this protection, the waterproof leather is allowed to breathe, increasing the moisture vapour permeability of the entire shoe. This process essentially ensures that the upper is truly waterproof, breathable, and durable. So if it's raining outside, this won't affect the require performance and comfort that you expect from a quality hiking shoe.UPPER:*Waterproof nubuck or full-grain leather upper*Waterproof seam-sealed construction*Ultra lightweight rustproof hardware*Moisture wicking liningINSOLE:*Comfort-Tec contoured socklinerOUTSOLE:*Board lasted with steel shank for added rigidity and support*Lightweight TrekLite EVA midsole for cushioning*Durable carbon rubber*MDT hiking outsole

These are a nice pair of walking shoes, I have actual bought them for working in rather than as a walking shoe but they seem much better value than the Regatta boots (poor construction and seem not to breathable) they will be replacing in due course.
They seem to have the advantage of providing good support of the sole and on the few occasions I have been out side seem to provide good grip in slippery conditions unlike my Regatta boots.
So to sum up my opinion so far, they seem to be well made have good grip, good support, and finally are finished in concrete (marketing hype?) to protect the uppers from dirt and make them waterproof.
If I remember I will add to this review once I have started using them on a regular basis.

I had at least 10 pairs of these purchased in the U.S. and still have 2 for comparison. These hiking shoes from the U.K (advertised exactly as those I had purchased in the U.S by name and internet photo) came badly scuffed and were built with lesser quality than those I had become accustom to. Oh well...

These are the best walking shoes I have had (and I am comparing stuff like merrell, berghaus, trespass, salomon, scarpa, brasher). Sizing is on the generous size - i am 7.5/8 and bought an 8 which is roomy and wide fitting. I wear two pairs of socks for long walks so this is fine (for me). The leather is good quality - obviously it takes a little time to break in - treating with dubbin or wax will help. Nevertheless, I have had no problems at all with blisters or any other soreness. The sole is well attached although some of the gluing is not quite as neat as might be on a £150 pound shoe or boot. The shoe offers good support as is but personally I have added a custom insole to give just a little more support to the arch. The sole is pretty rugged but obviously these shoes are aimed at reasonably light use - serious fell walkers will want something more rugged with more support for the ankle I would think. I like these shoes a lot and am considering buying another pair just in case they are discontinued.

In summary: Price 5*, quality 4*. Really excellent overall.
