There are many book written about Perry & Croft's other sitcom 'Dad's Army' - some might say too many, so it's good to see a publication devoted to one of their other classics Hi-de-Hi!
This book is highly informative and is written in a welcoming style, containing many original pictures and anecdotes supplied by the cast and crew.
The book's extended gestation period is evidenced by the number of comments from those who have passsed on, but at the same time it is bang up to date, the death of Felix Bowness who died a week or two before publication is mentioned.
It's nice to see the story seen from the eyes of those who were there at the time and what comes over is that they all had a great time doing the show.
Perry & Croft's last and some might say their best produced programme, You Rang M'Lord? is also covered (by turning over the book). This is an unknown classic. I urge anyone who hasn't seen this programme to buy the box set - it is a feast of old Perry & Croft actors. There is much to read of interest if you are a P&C or general comedy fan (if just for the pictures alone), and this book certainly deserves a (fair sized) space of your bookshelf.
