Product Description

Product Description

Hey, That’s My Fish! is an engaging, award-winning board game of strategic fish hunting, in which players control determined penguins hungry for their next meal on a bustling Antarctic ice floe.

Product Description

Hey That's My Fish is a fun and exciting game for two to four players. The aim of the game is to catch as many fish as possible, using your waddle of penguins. Move your penguin forward in a straight line over the hexagon ice tiles, collecting them as you go. When a gap appears in the tiles, penguins will not be able to cross on future turns. If your penguin becomes stranded, it is removed from the game, with the owner claiming the tile on which it stands. The winner of this game is the player who ends with the most fish. Quick Facts: For 2 to 4 players Suitable from 8 years

Fantasy Flight games are a great boardgame company. I own a vast selection of their products; why? Because they are generally very well made games and usually well designed. So, how does Hey that's my fish rate. Well it has some pluses and some minuses to be honest. This is a game that is squarely aimed at children, and like all good children's games it is easy to pick up but difficult to master. The aim of the game is to collect as many fish with your penquins as possible. You set up the 60 hexagonal pieces in a grid of rows, alternating 7 and 8 hexes per row. Each hex has one, two or three fish on it. You slide your penquins across the hex grid as far as you like in a straight line to collect the hex tiles. Each time you move you collect the tile you started your turn on. As you work through the game so the gaps begin to appear between the hexes, and guess what? You cannot slide over the gaps; nor can you slide through other penguins. So quickly the island of hexes becomes a archipelago of islands. Now, you want your penguins to have exclusive access to the most remaining hexes to ensure that you win the game and this is where the strategy comes in. Will you penguin end up on a large island with a fish supper or on a single marooned hex with a tiddler. What are the minuses? Well the board is a little fiddly to set up and the hexes can get moved around a little too easily and you could say that it is a little on the small side. However, this does make it easy to take on those rainy holidays.

I play this with serious gamers and with people who aren't into board games. Seriously such a fantastic game. The rules are simple and elegant, but once you start playing all sorts of emergent tactics make themselves clear. It's especially good with 4 players. It's very addictive too, as games are fairly short and you always feel like it was your own fault for losing. Just one more game and you can do better, yeah... ;)

I ended up getting the Android app as well, but it's not quite the same fun as playing with a proper board.

What a simple fun idea.
It's like Chess for people who like Penguins.
Without all the complicated moves and rules.
Kids and adults will love it.
Great for family get togethers.
Four players is not enough.
Add another copy and rank up the fun.

Really fun game, easy to learn and very quick to play. Only drawback would be awkward setup for a short game.

It does take longer to set up than to play, but this is a great little game. We've had a lot of fun playing it. We have a decent collection of boardgames, including 2 other fantasy flight games that are decidedly more complicated than this one. Hey That's My Fish is super simple - no complicated rules here - and it's kid friendly. I think the age says 8 and up but I think younger children would have no problem with it.

Hey That's My Fish is one of the simplest and smallest games in my collection but it is one of the most frequently played too!
Simple game design, quality pieces, as usual with Fantasy Flight Games, this game is a fit for any table and makes for one of the best filler games have ever played.
