The Hewlett-Packard ScanJet 2200c provides colour scanning, and push-button operation, while accommodating 3-D objects and books. Scan your images to Web, print, or e-mail, with 600-dpi optical resolution and 42-bit colour, with this slim, low-profile scanner designed for PC owners.

A flatbed, one-pass colour and monochrome scanner which permits colour copying when connected to a colour printer, the HP 2200c offers an 8.5-by-11.7-inch scanning area and a hinged cover. With hardware resolution of 600 x 1,200 dpi, enhanced to 9,600 dpi, it scans at fast speeds such as 48 seconds for a 4-by-6-inch colour photo, and just over a minute for a full page of text using OCR (optical character recognition). HP's software package supports the editing of scanned documents, saving to storage, printing or sending your image to whatever application (fax, copy, file) you choose. It offers multiple file formats for images and text alike.

The 2200c has a practical and versatile USB interface and ships with USB cable and CD-ROM scanning software. Slim and value-packed, the HP Scanjet 2200c colour scanner is packed into an attractive, modern design that will fit perfectly into your home.

To be honest, I bought this scanner as it was the cheapest on Amazon, and I really haven't looked back. The quality is as good as any other scanner I have used - you will definately be impressed by the precision and crisp colours you can produce. Other benefits include setting up, a couple of clicks and you are ready to scan! The only problem may be the fact that it is a bit bulky, but only a tiny bit more than even the most expensive scanner which you can buy! Got the money? Need a scanner? Buy it.

I must say that the res is good on this scanner - it's cheap for the quality that you get!:o)
Only gripes are the interface of the unit could do with a design re-think e.g. the buttons are quite wobbly and it has not got an "off" switch.
The scanning software is not functional enough, e.g. there is the proportional function to pick a section of the image to scan, but this can be awkward to use as you cannot adjust the L/B of the selection independently.
Basically, the results are superb, but the design of the unit and the interface software that comes with it is pretty strange.

This scanner is about middle of the range and 600dpi is all i need, the software that comes with it is very easy to use and powerful too - you can choose how you want the image to be output by a drop down list which has all the appropriate programs listed that you have installed from photoshop to paint! of course you can output it to a file and select the type etc.

Another piece of software included is Adobe Active share which is something to compile your pictures and images into albums etc, not my thing but still is great for people who want to collate their images like that.

So together with the low price and the high performance and good software (plus its easy to set up with USB) I think this Scanner is great. Perfect for me, a poor about to be Uni student!
