I bought this keyboard to replace my
Xenta Super Compact micro slim Wireless UK Keyboard - 2.4Ghz Nano USB Receiver pc computer and I'm glad I changed to this keyboard. However, there are things still missing: no capslock indicators, no actual "delete" key (it says "delete" but works as "backspace" in Windows), no pg up, no pg down.
The good:
- It's Bluetooth, so, you can connect it to different devices. I've used this keyboard on Windows 7 and also on a friend's macbook pro and it works perfectly without any "usb receiver".
- It has a auto-switch off functionality when the keyboard is inactive (or out of range). In Mac Os 10.6 or higher you will get a notification when this happens. To re-activate they keyboard all you have to do is to type!.
- It's comfortable to type (unlike the Xenta wireless keyboard)
- It has a compact size (similar to the macbook wireless keyboard)
- It has keys that work perfectly on Mac OS X 10.6+ such as: shutdown key, command key and some others
- You can connect the keyboard to your Android phone.
The bad:
- When you switch on the keyboard a LED will flash green for some seconds but after some seconds it would be difficult to tell (just by looking) whether the keyboard is on or not.
- Apart from the on/off LED (that remains blinking just for a few seconds after switching on the keyboard), there are no indicators whatsoever.
(Particularly in Mac OS X, this keyboard will work as an independent keyboard, so, pressing "caps lock" in Mac OS X will NOT make the main keyboard (if you have another keyboard plugged in) to switch on its "caps lock" indicator. Basically, there's no way to tell whether the "caps lock" is on or off except by the warnings you will get in Mac OS when you type a password or just by typing and seeing the result)
- Despite the extra keys, I wish I could have another keys I use. For instance: "delete", "pg up/down"
- The letters on the keys are printed in some sort of light grey (instead of white). It could make the keys a bit difficult to see under low light conditions (for some users).
My opinion:
After using some cheaper keyboards I really like to type with this keyboard. It works perfectly and you don't need to use any USB port. I'd have bought the
Microsoft Arc Wireless USB Keyboard for PC and Xbox 360 but I didn't because it wasn't Bluetooth and I also wanted use the keyboard in different devices.
If you need a compact keyboard for different devices that have support for Bluetooth, you can give it a go to this one but if you need a wireless keyboard that has all the keys and you don't mind the size or the Bluetooth then you can try another option.
I'm gonna try to keep updating as I'm getting familiar with the keyboard,so far, that's my opinion.
Hope it helps!
