The spring loaded guard was missing from the cartridge and the print isn't really black, more of a dark grey.

What more can you say? It's an ink cartridge, it fits in my printer, lasts for ages, and it works like a charm.

To add a little more...

Very quick and simple to replace, and if you put your old cartridge back into the box and seal it with tape, HP provide a free return label which allows you to return the old cartridge to them for recycling. What's not to like?
