Product Description

TAG Heuer traces its roots to the small Swiss village of St-Imier where, in 1860, a watchmaker named Edouard Heuer opened his first shop. His vision was to create remarkable timepieces that pushed the envelope of innovation and precision. The company's reputation grew, and Heuer's first patent for a chronograph mechanism in 1882 was followed by a long list of achievements: the first stopwatch accurate to 1/100 of a second, the first dashboard stopwatch for race cars, the first miniature electronic timekeeping device accurate to 1/1000th of a second, and the first automatic movement with a microrotor, to name just a few.

Over the years, Heuer's reputation for gold-standard precision earned the company the privilege of providing official timing services for a number of world-class competitive sporting events, including the Olympic Games, the FIS Ski World Cup, and the FIA Formula 1 World Championships. To this day, TAG Heuer maintains a close association with the world of competitive sports and enjoys a devoted following among sports celebrities and enthusiasts. In 1985, Heuer joined the TAG (Techniques D'Avant-Garde) group, and the TAG Heuer name and logo were created. Now one of the most recognized and sought-after watch brands in the world, TAG Heuer continues its reputation of innovative design and technological excellence, creating prestigious timepieces that are always at the cutting edge of precision, reliability and style.

5.0 out of 5 stars An understatement 12 Feb 2011
By Maciej Winnicki - Published on Amazon.com

The TG Carrera has been my daily watch for over a year now. All I can say is that it has not once failed me. It's accurate and has long reserve (can easily leave it on Friday afternoon and expect to be up and running on Sunday morning). You can't expect any more from a watch with only one function - showing the right time :)

However, this also serves as a bit of a status symbol (it's not a cheap piece of metal after all). And in this respect the Carrera over-delivers. It is all the opposite of flashy, in-your-face macho watch (which also come from respected Swiss manufacturers). It is a smart understatement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful watch! 15 April 2010
A Kid's Review - Published on Amazon.com
I'll preface this review by admitting that I'm a little strange. I generally don't buy things for myself, and have also been told on more than one occasion that I'm difficult to buy presents for.

I really like a nice watch, so every once in a blue moon I indulge myself with a watch. When I say once in a blue moon, my last watch purchase (also a TAG) was about 15 years ago.

Recently I was in Switzerland on a business trip, and learned that watch stores are EVERYWHERE there.....so I ended up looking in multitudes of watch store windows and of course drooling. As the watches were all made there in Switzerland, I thought I might indulge myself there with a bargain, but all the decent watches (including this one) were priced at $2,000 and up.

So I looked in the duty free store, and made pretty much the same discovery.

Having seen both the Longines collection as well as the TAG's, I was bitten by the bug, and was on a mission to find a new watch. I did a bunch of web searching, and after hours on the web ended up........here on Amazon. Which made me feel pretty stupid, as I'm a Prime member and shop here regularly, so was kicking myself for not just coming here in the first place.

Which brings me (finally, I know....) to the point of this review.

I'm a little bit of a watch snob, but one who is on at least a bit of a budget. This is a beautiful watch, that feels and performs as one would expect of a high end Swiss watch -- but for around a thousand less than I could find anywhere else.

Two thumbs up for this one.

I'll most likely wait another 15 years before adding to my collection -- and in the meantime will enjoy this one thoroughly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Watch 7 Nov 2012
By Ed Pie. - Published on Amazon.com
This watch is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a "dress" watch with a leather band that was just a watch without 3 or 4 other dials or stop watches or timezones. I understand TAG is discontinuing this model in favor of another with a second hand dial. The price of this watch has risen steadily for the last three weeks....I assume as supply decreases. Love the TAG clasp. 5-star watch.

3.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, Classy Watch but loses time quickly 21 Aug 2012
By AngieG - Published on Amazon.com
I got this watch from another site for my husband. It claims to have a long reserve time (up to 36 hours) but, my husband takes it off at night and has to re-set the time each morning.

The watch itself is classy and gorgeous, elegantly understated. I'm contemplating purchasing a watch winder to see if this will alleviate the problem of timekeeping. Disappointing though that this has to be an option.

1.0 out of 5 stars DON'T BUY THIS ITEM 30 July 2012
By manju patel - Published on Amazon.com
Don't buy this watch! Especially from Amazon. It started to lose time after about 3 months of wearing it. Called Amazon, they asked me to send it in - at my own cost!!! Returned to me after 4 weeks, same issue, in fact worse - losing time even while being worn. Called Amazon - sent from pillar to post, given a voucher for $20 and told nothing they can do except repair it again!! Have to send it in again - will take another 4 weeks to repair. Have spent a total of 1.5 hours on the phone + postage and insurance to return item twice. Not sure if it will ever work properly. You've been warned!
