Product Description

Feature adaptation of the anime that includes the major countries of World War II as characters. A host of new countries, including Poland (voice of Kazutada Tanaka) and Switzerland (Romi Pak), join the action as a group known as the Pictorians arrive from space and set about turning everything on Earth to the colour white. The Axis Powers, led by Germany (Hiroki Yasumoto), and the Allied Forces, led by America (Ai Iwamura) and the United Kingdom (Noriaki Sugiyama), may have to take a break from fighting each other to team up against a formidable new enemy. Will they also learn something valuable in the process?

4.0 out of 5 stars "Alien Invaders. A World United. Weird Goo." 19 May 2012
By Mayo
Format:DVD
I bought this movie from a seller in America so I already own this DVD in the UK despite it still only being available for Pre-Order.

I would suggest watching one of the series first just to familiarise yourself with characters so you can get the most out of it although its not essential. I watched this with my boyfriend who hadn't seen anything from hetalia before and the odd bit of explaining or pointing out which country was which made it easy enough to follow.

The film is 80 minutes long with English dub(optional japanese dub and engish sub)

Extras include:
80 minute commentary (which is basically voice actors speaking over the film answering questions, and having a laugh etc. One particular moment of J Michael Tatum (voice of France) ranting about Harry Potter having me in stitches.)
The Hidden History of Hetalia (written pages which explains historical facts referred to in the movie)
Original Theatrical Ending
Textless Theatrical Ending
Opening Day Stage Opening
Paint It White! Trailer
Outtakes (Voice actor bloopers, really funny)
Additional Trailers for other anime

The movie itself follows our main 8 countries (Italy, Germany, Japan, America, Britain, France, Russia and China) in the modern world as they are attacked by an alien race called Pictonians. The aliens are trying to invade earth by making it void of colour, individuality and personality , hence the title 'Paint It White!'

Other countries fall to the Pictonians, even Poland's pony isn't spared! although Switzerland and Liechtenstein's 'barrier of neutrality' keeps them safe they miss all the action and instead enjoy a yummy picnic in their garden. Our main characters board the alien mothership desguised as aliens(including China's Panda) to try and convince the Pictonians that individuality is worth keeping on this planet as they all show off their individual styles and cultures which brings its own hilarities. Personal favourites being Germany being unable to share his beer and Russia's having the poor Baltic states dancing ballet.

There are flashbacks throughout the movie to essentuate the characters personalities with clips from the series with some of the best bits so there's always something familiar in the movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hetalia Movies does not dissapoint 13 July 2012
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
If you are an already existing fan of Hetalia then you would love this, I know, I loved it a lot. I could imagine people who have never seen the original series's not enjoying it out of confusion but it is enjoyable and I would recommend it to anyone who likes anime. Again, I would recommend people see the original series first, but very fun and good extras too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant! 6 May 2013
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
This particular DVD has been very hard to find in the past. Now I've finally found it and I'm so glad I bought it. The DVD was in perfect condition and arrived very quickly. The movie is hilarious and a must-have for any Hetalia fans. There's some great extras on here as well. The japanese and the english dub both sound great.

There a few parts of the movie that are some old scenes from the series but it is still a must-buy in my opinion. The new footage is awesome! :)
