Product Description

Do not try this at home! Stimulating and provoking all the senses, Blumenthal pushes the boundaries and takes dining to a whole new level, creating extreme food adventures and true dinner magic . Heston Blumenthal owns one of the world s finest restaurants. He s famous for his unique approach to food and his experimental style of cooking which has set him poles apart from other chefs. In this exhilarating series Blumenthal reinvents gastronomy. Searching through age-old recipes, the culinary alchemist challenges himself to recreate them as the food of the future. For each unforgettable feast he invites six celebrities to dinner, but they soon discover these are no ordinary dinner parties. Blumenthal goes to extraordinary lengths to recreate the Mad Hatter s Tea Party from Alice s Adventures in Wonderland; bakes four and twenty blackbirds inside a pie; combines a variety of animals to create a mythical beast that s part lamb, part goose, part hog and part chicken; stimulates his guests with ejaculating cakes; and fashions an entirely edible scene based on the Christmas carol Good King Wenceslas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heston at his mental best 21 Jun 2010
If you know nothing about Heston Blumenthal, then be prepared for something totally different. This isn't a chef showing you how to make a soufflé, it's culinary theatre with a touch of science abuse thrown in. You're never likely to try any of the menu ideas at home, but it's great fun watching him blowing things up & finding new ways to achieve some magical meals. Best of all is the nervous looks on the faces of his guest diners, when presented with unidentifiable & bizarre dishes that are usually not what they seem & the childlike wonder & excitement that follows.
I think it's just brilliant.

If you didn't watch the series you should see this dvd. Even if you did watch it (which I did) this is well worth owning.Mr.B is not only THE chef but a master at putting a twist in to not only each meal but each individual course. He puts the WOW!!! into everything he serves, which all the celebs invited to his table I am sure they would confirm. A lot of the dishes he becomes a sort of scientist..... blowing things up amongst other things. At last a chef who can not only cook but is also highly entertaining, highly highly recommended.Heston's Feast [DVD]

4.0 out of 5 stars Food Genius 20 Oct 2010
This DVD series is very entertaining, Heston's ability to create dishes that astound and delight the senses is awe inspiring. The uninitiated should be aware, very little of what Heston shows can be done at home and for some one who is looking for tips on how to cook this series is probably not for you, but if you like to see boundries pushed and slightly pickled B grade celebraties having their minds expanded by Hestons culinary big bang then this should be rewarding viewing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Try This At Home!.. 31 Mar 2010
... as the horse's mouth would say. He'd also tell you to chuck away your cookbook coz conventional cooking, this ain't! But if you're a fan of Heston Blumenthal, then this will already be obvious to you. This first series of Heston's Feasts spans across 4 time periods. Heston, the ultimate cool-geek, uses his groundbreaking techniques to give a modern take on historical menus for his celebrity guests. With his kitchen resembling a science lab, there are some utterly bizarre concoctions to be witnessed. One of those DVDs that you can leave casually lying in a noticeable place so that when friends come round to your house, you'll look effortlessly cool.

5.0 out of 5 stars Marvelous 16 April 2010
After watching the his amazing feasts firstly on TV, I was glad to see you can finally buy the DVD, excellent insight into Heston's bizarre culinary antics, where he explores the meaning of cooking and completely engulfes his guests into the world of the unknown, these are no ordinary dinner parties, but the effort Heston puts into his culinary magic makes everything worth it.
