I would not recommend this book to people who are interested in gaining a deeper knowledge in personality disorders. Buying this book I thought I would get a better insight to narcissism as well as understand how NPD is developed and how to deal and protect your personality from people suffering from narcissistic personality disorder. Although the author states in the beginning that she does not pretend to be a professional psychiatrist throughout my reading I felt very clearly that the book is written by an amateur. In my opinion it fails to get inside the world of a narcissist, understand mechanisms underlying his/her behaviour patterns etc. though the author is very good at writing a narrative story.

Great Book - Eye Opener! 31 Oct 2008
By Diana - Published on Amazon.com
This book was a great read with wonderful insight into the world of a narcissist. It helped me understand all of the narcissist guys that I have dated in the past and made it easier to move past all of their nonsense. The realistic examples were eye opening! I look forward to reading more of Lisa E. Scott's books.

Great book! Gives a great insight to narcissism from an everyday perspective. Extremely helpful to point out the not so obvious charactistic of a narcissitic.
Well done. 13 Feb 2009

"Lisa Scott absolutely grasps the essence of narcissism. As I read her book I was continually amazed how she was able to take this very complicated psychological construct and distill it down to its fundamental nature - illustrating it in a way that was easy to understand. She provides a practical and hopeful approach for any woman dealing with this type of man." CANDACE V. LOVE PhD Clinical Psychologist Chicago, Illinois
