Acoustic Best Of, 9 Jan 2003
With most of his music out of print and very little ever released on CD, Don Francisco decided to do something about it. He went into his own studio and re-recorded some of his best songs himself. The production here is simple; much like it is at his concerts. But the songs are still wonderful. The focus here in on Jesus’ earthly ministry and what he's done for us. As always, God's love comes through in all his songs. Many of his most famous ballads are here, including "Adam, Where Are You?," "Gotta Tell Somebody," "Willing to Heal," "He's Alive," "Come and Follow," and the complete "Too Small a Price." He also includes some of my favorite songs about God's love: "I Don't Care Where You've Been Sleeping," "I'll Never Let Go of Your Hand," and "I Have Chosen You." Only two songs really deal with our response: "Jesus is Lord of the Way I Feel" discusses faith and "Brother of the Son" is a prayer to be more like Jesus. Written the day after Don became a Christian, it's still a challenging song and a personal favorite. In fact, the only song I don't love is "As it Was/So it Shall Be." That song's just never connected with me. Long time fans of Don's music will be glad to know that it really doesn't sound that different from the records and tapes they're used to hearing. Yet at the same time, it doesn’t sound like dated 70’s music. And it's great to finally have these songs on CD. Any fan of Don Francisco will be delighted with this collection of truly classic songs on CD. And any person looking for encouragement will find it in spades here. One of my favorites and it’s sure to be one of yours as well.
